QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jan 2 2010, 09:43 PM) I believe they are Miyota movement (citizen). I see. Just googled them out but do not understand at all. today even tag heuer is moving to use a seiko mechanical movement developed a decade ago. for me swiss-jap... don't really matter.. I really love to own a seiko spring drive. QUOTE(michaelfoo @ Jan 2 2010, 10:38 PM) Those are designers' watches. Most of them use Japanese movement. Oh. I'm only 18. So i guess it is the reason i go for japan movement. (money wise + more collection)2 distinct types of watch collectors I know, those who collect designers' watches don't care what's inside as long as the design is nice to match their attire. Another type prefers Swiss movement and spends on 1 watch at the price of buying a few ten designers' watches. It's all self-preference. |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jan 3 2010, 11:48 AM) there are affordable watches in swiss movement. by that I meant around US$200 - US$400 range. just need to know where to look. eg http://www.watchseller.com/watun500.html www.pmwf.com http://www.bernhardtwatch.com/officerswatch.html brands such as entry level watches from hamilton, ESQ, Zodiac, Golana Swiss, Tissot would fit the above budget. oops.. lets not forget Swatch! |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jan 18 2010, 10:03 PM) swiss made and mechanical? choices very limited, what to do I am a mechanical guy.. thank you so much for the brands & the links. FYI: raw 6497 movement cost over US$100. Skeleton version 6497 usually cost over US$240. swiss quartz usually US$10-60. - Choisi (online order only all swiss made) maybe the best deal since this brand is clearing stock, focusing on producing movement. http://www.ocean7watchco.com/cs1/index.php...&category_id=17 - Hamilton lowest end if U can find (most likely manual winding) http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/H...ci_sku=12349171 - Tissot (if U can get extremely good discount thru AD), ===> models to look at are PRS516, PRC200 - swiss army (only thru gray market but its hard these days) - Bernhardt watch (swiss movement, US made) http://www.bernhardtwatch.com/officerswatch.html - Ollech & Wajs, US brand swiss made http://gnomonwatches.com/Ollech&Wajs.htm -Aristo, geramn watch with swiss movement http://gnomonwatches.com/AristoHP7.html if U are looking for quartz the selection is a little wider. - Zodiac - Certina - Tissot i'm not good in watches, will google out mechanical, movement & quartz |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jan 20 2010, 12:59 PM) finally u review what u like. its hard to give suggestion without any idea of what one is looking for. hey, bro. but any brands other than Tissot have the similar design?Ad = authorize dealer (these shops discount are controlled strictly by watch brands, if they are found out to give U more than allowed watch brands can take away their dealership and these shops can no longer get the watches direct from the manufacturer.) can see a trend here... young men all love their chrono and sub dials! that model is a quartz. retails US$425 (I think), getting thru AD discount maybe 25%. if U shop on sites like amazon they are not AD. http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-PRC200-Mens-W...2/dp/B000KKO894 guess U are going for a quartz chrono under $1K budget. |

I see. thx for the link.http://basepath.com/watches/Reviews/JLCReverso/JLCreview.htm Added on January 23, 2010, 11:32 pm QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jan 22 2010, 03:02 AM) Daymon, is 18yr old, zero appreciation with mechanical watch at his stage. beside my tag shown in my collection.. norm ppl may not know the other brands. i'll work hard for it To Daymon, having own a few fashion watches. A Jap quartz and Swiss quartz isn't much diff there. I would try a mechanical. not sure if U do, but I enjoy a display back. and the brown leather on my JLC is Ostrich.
