Hello watch lovers,
I've had a Swatch Windfall (part of the dial peeling off now), a Seiko Chronograph (stolen), and some Casio digital ones for exercising. Been wearing a cheap watch given at my company's annual dinner door-gift for years now. Now I'm considering getting a half-decent watch. Thinking of getting this Tissot PR50 T34.1.488.32 for less than RM700. Any opinion on it? My preference: - dial not too complex, good clean design, chrono or not doesn't matter - I'm not a movement person (would prefer automatic but no decent ones at my budget) - prefer round shape - prefer metal as I will be wearing it daily and don't know how to take care of leather - brand doesn't matter as long as the design and build is good - max size for dial 40mm - for work and casual Any recommendations? ![]() This post has been edited by Dannyl: Apr 19 2010, 08:59 PM |

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Apr 19 2010, 10:51 PM) rm700 budget huh? have u checked out Seiko 5 or citizen? i think there are some orient watches too within ur budget. Thanks for the recommendations. Saw a couple of interesting Seiko 5s, designs are bit too plain but worth checking out. Saw some bad Amazon reviews on the accuracy and time-keeping, but I guess should be all right with warranty? Orient info is harder to find http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/Archive/2010-04AStd57831229.htm http://www.lelong.com.my/merchant/default....01&sortBy=Price Anybody has any idea how much this Orient FD0E003W is? Only 2 results from a Google search ![]() |

Saw a Citizen watch online that I fancied, went to a Citizen AD, gave them the SKU, but they couldn't find it. Sigh...

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 21 2010, 09:04 AM) patryn33, which of these do you have experience with? Never bought watches online before, not quite sure which to trust.http://watchesgifts.com/ http://www.skywatches.com.sg/ http://www.skywatchdealers.com/ http://www.modbazaar.com/ http://www.trendstylewatches.com/ |

Wanna ask something... the oscillation of the movements determines the smoothness of the second hand sweep, correct? I just bought a watch with Miyota 8210 movement at 21,600 bph, which is jerky. Just being curious - what movements have silky smooth sweep? My first experience with clocks/watches (when I was a few years old) was with a family wall clock. The clock had perfectly smooth second hand sweep...

It'll be perfect if it has Breguet type hands and lume. Strangely, the shop says the watch doesn't have a manual... and the box is randomly selected from a pile of similar looking boxes. Is this normal? The box itself is selling for $12.85USD.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 24 2010, 06:36 AM) congrats on your purchase, I gather u got from skywatches.com.sg, care to provide a review on them? Oh, I didn't buy from skywatches.com.sg. From the watchuseek.com links you posted, the good reviews were from 2006 and bad ones from 2010, so decided to skip it. Went to a watch shop nearby, saw it, bought it. Googled the box number and saw skywatches.com.sg selling them...usually those Breguet hands do not have any lume. Brequet hands no lume... but nice. I have a thing for automatics with Roman numerical and Breguet hands. Cheapest I can find is Swatch... ![]() This post has been edited by Dannyl: Apr 24 2010, 10:46 AM |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 24 2010, 10:47 AM) saw u post the link there thought u may have got from them. Wow, cheap and nice, thanks for the info! And according to WatchUSeek, Seagull movements are very accurate too. Might just consider them for my next watch Breguet hands... try china seagull they are affordable. that swatch isn't it a quartz? more on http://www.seagullwatch.com prices in rmb. simple clean design should cost ~ RMB$780 http://www.usseagull.com/production.asp?cid=1&pid=14 No, that Swatch is an automatic. The other automatic is a skeleton. The rest are chrono, I believe. This post has been edited by Dannyl: Apr 25 2010, 09:05 AM |
