Hi, newbie here. i love diver watches and my dream watch is Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. BUT, i just can't afford it. I own a Citizen Promaster NY0040-17L

i'd like to add a few more automatic diver watches, particularly from Seiko, Citizen and Orient. Anybody knows where I can find some good wide selections of these watches in KL and Selangor? I've only found some Seiko Kinetic divers, but I'm looking for the automatic ones instead.
*
those Seiko Jap made.. I know many ppl got them online thru the below
eg
http://www.seiyajapan.com/c=iHGck19d3Hd91v...iko_mechanical/
http://www.higuchi-inc.com/

orient divers many are Sub design..
http://www.orientwatchusa.com/collection.php?c=16

if u have more $$ can afford some swiss they generally cost ~US$500.. great deal..

i have small wrists so i prefer to try them on my wrist before buying. also, it's always nicer to hold the actual watches in your hand, right? i'm familiar with seiyajapan, but have never bought anything from them. is it safe buying online?

Louis Erard will need more than $2573 if U get thru AD.

1) US$4350 to US$7400 (gold version)
2) US$8600
omega generally cost more.. thats why...

Thanks for the speedy replied bro.
Appreciate that thumbup.gif

Never know the nice Omega watches that i like cost so much.
I though the price roughly cost around TH Calibre 16 but lesser than Calibre 36 sweat.gif
Anyway guess im going to drop off these 2 models...

1) Lower end Omega
2) TH Calibre 16
3) Oric BC4
4) ML Pontos Chronographe

any chance of being stopped by our customs, tax related matters? do we have to collect from them and pay some taxes? or is it tax-free?

get a preown seamaster, the design didn't change much and u get to spend less money.
esp those mid size 36mm auto seamasters preown can go around RM3.5K. new go around ~rm7.5K
or if U can find those pre co-axle watches discounts can be steeper.

Added on March 28, 2010, 5:34 amspotted a Louis Erard dress watch (40mm) at 70% off
- priced at SG$485 or ~RM1.1k

don't know, I live in US for many yrs now..
Isn't Seiko Prospex auto not cheap? ~US$600-700 or am I wrong?
for that price.. I rather get a Guinand G-330M (German brand owned by Sinn Founder, used to make Sinn watches, maybe Bell and Ross too in the past)

OH!! you live in the US! no wonder lah... some prospex models cost thousands of dollars, and some are only hundreds of dollars. depends i guess. i've checked out the links about customs you gave earlier. seems like the risks are IF the customs decide to squeeze some money out of you, and hijackers. and also how the goods are handled during shipment.

about MkII and Guinard. are there authorized service centers in malaysia? i've always wondered about brands that are available overseas but not here. if we buy them online and have them shipped here, once there's a problem, where do we take them to? i've been looking at Marathon SAR watches.

a few hundreds of dollars.. thats still a good US$600-700. ya there are those that cost above US$2K.. with that $$ I would get a Seiko Spring Drive.

anyway.. if U ship by DHL/Fedex and declare the full amount, even hijackers they are insured.. item lost these company pay u back the full amount.
as for those corrupted customs officer.. can't help.

there are malaysian who have got from online retailer such as Stowa, they are like Guinand only sell online. if u visit WUS, maybe can get their experience.
iirc silverstan here also ordered a Stowa. yenfoolun may had ordered from Stowa too.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.ph...467364#poststop

these brands do not have service centres in Malaysia.
Guinand and Stowa don't have service centre here in USA too, so far not seen anyone on Watchuseek/timezone/watchnet complain of problems. QC must be very good. after warranty U can always take it to regular watchmaker to get it service. ck77 maybe able to recommend U.
as for MKII, its US brand but swiss made only have 1 service centre in USA.. problems.. don't recall seeing any thread on WUS.

Marathon SAR - their Auto watches are currently sold out.. nice deal too US$700

OZ made diver watch on Soprod A-10, very good bargain too. usually Soprod movements are found in swiss watches that cost above US$3K

customs... sigh... i once bought an AGV helmet from ebay. the item was marked as GIFT, so should be no tax whatsoever. when it arrived in KLIA and checked by the customs, the withheld the package on the ground that the helmet had no SIRIM approval, although it had all international safety compliance. eventually, the customs officer said he could release the package but i would have to pay the tax. huh? what tax? it was a gift. finally, had to pay 10% of the value.

What is your favourite type of watch? I don't mean affordable or not, just the design in general.

Mine has to be one with lots of complications and a white face with little ornamental jewelleries. I seem to like Franck Muller;s long island series a lot. Again, all this is just a dream cause i can't afford it... yet. =)

well, if the LE is attractive to miaopurr..., yeah.... maybe make more economical sense to pay less for a brand new piece.

i used to love chronographs. then lost interest and switched my preference towards diver's watch. i agree that that LE is very nice, but not my cup of tea. been looking at MKII and Marathon. the Marathon SAR reeks of manly testosterone
