for those of you who wear leather watches, how do you maintain or clean the leather?

the sweat from my wrist has made my leather stink like hell, not exactly a pleasant thing hehe

btw, the imitative watches from Petaling St, how well do they stack up? i remember glancing through some and they look exactly the same as those original expensive ones to my amateur eyes

in terms of quality and durability, how are they? anyone with experience?

what do u mean by other watch guys?
its not uncommon to find those ardent watch collector to collect a box full of a certain brands or a particular kinda vintage watch regardless of price.
if u been to one of those US watch shows u know what I am talking about.. u even find ppl collecting cheapo vintage timex watches.
some only Japanese eg only collect citizen campanola complication.

have $$$, anything is possible.

today, its kinda "mainstream" loh... any kid who know a Tag or Seiko would know a Pammy.. I have to say brand awareness is along with the 5 match stick. ulu brands would be Girard Perregaux, Ulysse Nardin, Graham.
*
Tag, Seiko, Rolex - all mass producers with millions of watches a year and stores everywhere. I do not think your statement is accurate. Even amongst the many that I hang out with who have the means to afford nice luxury goods are well aware of brand like Tag, Rolex, Omega and Cartier but have never seen or heard of a Panerai. I wouldn't judge them as misinformed, but Panerai simply does not spend the marketing dollars that some of these other brands put in. This becomes especially clear when owning a Panerai - there are many that are impressed by the size and design but have never heard of the brand. I doubt this would be the case when wearing a Seiko (I have owned quite a few) or a Tag. I am not saying that it is not well known, but a kid who knows of a Tag?

Yep, its an orange PO with orange leather strap
Normal retail 11900
Rate after discount is around 9.8-10k
Selling now for 8k...

Price confirm going up April , 5%...

i love the orange bezel...but orange strap? doh.gif doh.gif i dont mind but worry if i will fall out of love with it after some time...

of course, i can always get an Omega bracelet but i heard the PO bracelet is about 2k (right?) so...if i add in all....it will still be a 10k Omega PO..except i get 1 leather strap addition! doh.gif doh.gif

3 options I can think of,
1. Get after market (none Omega) leather strap
2. Get the PO with rubber strap
3. Go PS get the 'ahem' Omega bracelet brows.gif

Any Franck Muller fans around?

I used to hate FM,

But lately the more I see it, the more i'm attracted to it. But prices are ridiculous and it doesn't have much history compare to say - IWC or a Jaeger or even a Panerai blush.gif

i am impressed you recognized my UNDFTD's!!  You must have very good taste in shoes!

patryn33 - i can tell by your posts that you know watches very well.

you are correct, these's PAM's were selling for less than half price until Stallone made them popular.

the model has gone under several revisions over the last four years - actually there was a PAM 00196, which was replaced by the PAM 00250.  Nearly identical with a few differences.

My model was made in 2008, and I just recently sent it to service (still under warranty).  Without warranty, minimum service costs about RM 2000.

hehe Jason - I think he was just trying to find a way to complement.

I chose the watch because of its history, presence, and also because it's not too "mainstream" but not too exclusive where most people do not know what it is.  Also, fellow Paneristi are a bit different from other watch guys.  It's quite common to see some with a box full of a dozen or more Panerai.  They'll own a few IWC, AP and other marque's, but seriously, a box full of Panerai's.

As far as a timepiece, there are watches that are 1/10 the price (Hamilton) that use the same exact ETA Valjoux movement.  In fact you have to spend RM 100k to get a true Panerai movement.

For me a watch is a symbol of status.  Women wear handbags, jewelry and shoes.  Men only have watches...and perhaps pens ( I collect pen's as well ).  Sometimes at my age, it requires something substantial, like an expensive watch, to gain credibility from people twice my age, that I have to do business with.
*
and I totally agree with your sentiments. and I believe we both agree each timepiece has its place, and its definitely not reflected by the price. as for movements, some in-house movements can be had for less than RM100k, such as Nomos, but of course it would not have the pedigree nor the history of the Panny. or the IWC Portuguese Automatic. but what you said is right, its a symbol of status, or as I prefer to say, a statement of your character.

HT does not sell rolex, but the boss can get it for you either new or pre-loved. yeah omega's price going up on 1st april. Btw, anyone knows the RRP for Ball spacemaster and the spacemaster glow / x-lume. Wanna workout the difference n see which to get =x
*
Ball Spacemaster is RM9800, after discount the Glow/X-Lume is ~RM300 more. keep in mind this is a chronometer ETA movement slapped into a Ball casing, with no work done by Ball on the movement sweat.gif I like the SM more cause it was less busy than the Glow. Decided not to pursue it cause I want something with some work done on the movement. All the history, heritage etc. is for naught if the heart ticking inside is exactly the same as a Tissot, which, it is. I ain't paying that much money for a beautiful shell and the brand Ball. but that's just me. Oh, and I really do love the SM smile.gif

i went to 1U last week nego with them...end up only 18% n some Tag models (Date Version) without discount anymore....i was very edger to buy from them...but the deal wasn't really good. (my Tag DD black face was sold out) so i did not force myself to get other colours DD.

If hour glass giving better deal with black face i definitely re-consider my purchase.

Any contact number?
