I've gotten my watch last night from The Hour Glass. A Glycine combat with a 2824-2 movement. Through their website and all, I thought this was just another 2824 movement as its stated even in their specs pdf file. I was suprised when the salesman started winding my watch MANUALLY with the crown. So I asked isn't this an automatic movement as it has a rotor at the back (lol).
Turns out this 25 jewel movement is manually windable as well as being an automatic. Cool. Will upload some photos when I get hold of my camera.
*
IIRC All automatic movement can be manually wind. even those vintage auto watches.
automatic watches, can be bidirectional or unidirectional too.

few brands actually remove the rotor of a 2824-2 and convert it to a manual winding watch.
eg
Atlantic Worldmaster Art Deco HW (ref 51650.41.20)
http://www.watchseller.com/atwoartdehws.html

care to share how much U paid for the item?

Really? Why don't they put this down in manuals....
http://www.glycine-watch.ch/e/collection/d..._Display=100008

Click on the ETA2824 link to see their manual.

Even reading up articles on automatic movements don't tell me anything about this. Guess I don't know craps about watches after all haha.

I paid close to 1.8k with 35% discount.

true, yet to see any articles that say U can manual wind auto watches.
I guess ppl just assume they do. since auto movement are an upgrade to manual winding, don't think they would remove this feature since auto feature is designed with convenience in mind. it would be inconvenient should wearer need to shake the watch to get it moving, a quick 10 turns is much easier.

Nope...new models. I dunno whether 28%-30% discount are available for their regular customer only or open to public. But that what their boss quote me for Tag and Ball.

I already told u. do read post again.
want a watch that is valued for $$ not paying much to advertisement.. your fav brands only fortis.
the rest all spent a bomb on adv.
bell & ross used unmod eta movement, like fortis. unlike fortis they use better movement 2892 vs 2824/2836.
u better ask how much u can afford rather than how much this and that cost. wait to save up, by the time too late too.. prices gone up.

Tag suggested retailed price is controlled.
this poor Econ, they maybe willing to give more discount and forgo making more profits.

as far as i know, tag retail shops could only give a max of 18 percent.. correct me if im wrong. i was asking for the price of carrera that day and a multibrand shop (watatime, watchshoppe) gave me 9300 (after disc) while the person from tag was shocked that they gave a much higher disc and started giving lame excuses . lol

2824 is so common its not even funny man, the Fortis uses 2836. I didn't know they belong in the same family though. But the thing is... the Fortis Marinemaster in bracelet feels really solid and nice. The rubber strap ones are also very nice to the feel! Movement wise, Sinn has higher end ETA movements from what I know, but I can't afford a Sinn. They make beautiful watches, just not affordable to me yet.

Thanks for the link though! Downloaded it, will read after lunch tongue.gif
