haha basically String, rx330 got the same principle as me for getting MBP ~
Firstly "Screen" whereas is portable
Secondly better "Graphic card" Watch movie i guess smile.gif
Thirdly "Backlit keyboard (using in the dark after 12am)
Lastly is stated "PRO" biggrin.gif

Although we paying quite high price but i think worth it, is tat so rx330 biggrin.gif

Hmm...MB + 24" Cinematic lcd? will tat be costly as well? More electric power consumption i guess smile.gif

Hi String,

From your post:
QUOTE
But it on what it can do NOW, and based on what you need it for, at the present.

im abit confuse, buy it on what it can do now...basically, i'm a windows user for ages never touch Mac OS before, i was very tempting to get an iMac at the first place but since Macrumours mentioned the new released will be out soon in Jan (finger cross) but i need something portable where i travel once a month back to M'sia by bus...so im worrying Spore/JB custom will ask lots of question about electronics stuff bringing in/out. hmm.gif

So off iMac, then comes to portability, I was thinking MBP but im not a graphic designer cum Multimedia guy laugh.gif I "Admire" MBP with larger screen and sharp quality display, althought the Processor/hdd/graphic card + backlit keyboard is the advantage from MB -->MBP with extra RM1300 (comparison from high-end MB --> Base MBP)

My usage just to surf net, watching movies, listening to music n P2P. Another factor i holding back my purchase due to P2P...coz i used to stress my laptop 24/7 rolleyes.gif but it can survive for close to 5 yrs now. So i might worry MBP suffer from "internal bleeding" wink.gif

After reading your post regarding MBA, i love the concept u wrote it there.... smile.gif although MBA only comes with 1USB i still okie with it...but it started again...the old model or the new model MBA? Well...i know the MB/MBA will be good for portability and carrying around n the price tag is not as high as MBP would consider it as well.

For the picture quality indeed MBP wins.. an excuse for me to get it but i only left it stationary at home for most of the time.

And another thing by watching movies under .mkv/ rmvb/ .avi how is the graphic card utilization with nVidia 9600?
Will the graphic card enhanced the colour boost for movies?

Basically, spending a huge amount of money into things that i don’t really utilize it is kind of wasted. nod.gif I agree with that biggrin.gif

terence... till now haven decide ar...
just buy which u like most, dun think too much liao thumbup.gif

haha brother, i wanted to stop thinking...but whenever i visit Apple shop...my mind start flying around, looking at MB, MBP and MBA even iMac they are sooo gorgeous laugh.gif

been goggling alot and i think i'll stick back to MBP "la" since that is the maximum tolerate size for portable laptop, well~ since i don’t really utilize the functions. Just because the larger screen alwiz catch my eye side...cant resists to stop looking at it... rolleyes.gif

So far did Macrumors mention they will unable the dual SLI mode / without soft resetting your laptop to change the graphic card?

And where can i search for the comparison chart for MB VCS MBP performance (benchmark for speed/video encoding..etc)

On the other hand, 1 good news for me rolleyes.gif my company has joined the APPLE Corporate Employee Purchase Program. yahoo thumbup.gif start buying n spending hahaha whistling.gif worth of getting 24" cinematic display?
user posted image

So far there's no special discount for Mac City/ Machines at the moment...im waiting for free 4GB Apple Certified Ram, maybe Chinese new yr promotion? wink.gif

btw, what u do most on your MBP? really just surfing the net and watch movies? video encoding can i say converting the video from any file (.mkv/rm/rmvb/ .avi) --> .Mp4?

the old/new MBP bro~
So far i see most "Mat Salleh" love to use 17"
i think they got it quite cheap at US compare to Asian Country~

Too bad the graphic card for 17" MBP is the same as the 2.5Ghz MBP only...should adopt higher graphic card spec for better usage biggrin.gif

From the Apple website stated MBP can last 5 hours + with Wifi is that true?

I see u guys here posting the usage and the charging cycle seems there some minor prob with the battery charing mode?

if MBP can sustain at "least" 4 hours then it is a good buy smile.gif

there's another thread about keeping the AC adapter on while using a macbook.

ur battery is only charging when the adapter flashes RED. if its green, meaning the macbook is running on AC, skipping the battery.

Ohh is this really true? The laptop will senses the battery is full and skip charging the batt? Oh this is really a new thing to me.

Do u have source to refer so i can read it nicely biggrin.gif

Thanks mate!

hey guys do u customize your MBP when purchase?

Im thinking the Hdd portion..

1)250GB Serial ATA @ 7200 [Add RM 180.00]
2)320GB Serial ATA @ 5400 [Add RM 359.00]
3)320GB Serial ATA @ 7200 [Add RM 539.00]

Do these really make a differences in speed?

Or can v just buy 500GB hdd 7200rpm at lowyat and install ourself?

Thanks
