jz wanna ask. i used to take out my battery when used AC adapter with my former toshiba lptp. but now, with my macbook, i'm afraid to take it out coz it will lead to the important part of this macbook like. do i have to do so? how long the battery life then?
*
No , don't . Unless you plan not to use the battery or convert into a workstation fully time. Macbooks do have a sensor which detects if its fully charged or not. It doesn't overcharge the battery in order to reduce the number of complete charges so that the battery lasts longer. this is why after you unplug use the battery for like 15 minutes and replug back. It would only charge up to 9x% and not 100%

If you do remove the battery you may notice that time and date might go off. So its not recommended to remove the battery. Just leave it as it is unless you are always on AC 24/7 !

Removing the battery will cause the Mac to underclock the cpu.

thanks bro, have you try virtualbox before ?
is it good ?

beside get it from parallel with electronic download,is there any store in malaysia selling this software ?
*
Well VirtualBox runs okay. When I say its okay , it isn't as cool as running Parallels or something. If you just want to run windows for couple of applications only then give VirtualBox a shot. But if you really love the integration of Parallels , then I would recommend you to get it.

I am using VirtualBox myself on ubuntu. Its okay and does a great job in running Windows 2003 on a headless server

By the way its a Mac , not MAC

MAC stands for Media Access Control

Anyway you aren't used to X , once you got used to OSX - You'll spend time with OSX more. Trust me , you haven't explored the fullest potential of the system

Buying a Macbook and installing Windows XP is just like buying a regular laptop and installing Windows

when i close the lid, my internet got disconnected. i'm using mobile as modem connecting via bluetooth and also cable.. is there any where i can change the setting, so whenever i close the lid, it won't get disconnected?
*
Its normal , when you close the lid. The mac goes to sleep , to fix this grab InsomniaX (google for it and install it)

I don't recommend you to do that for a long period of time , its because the cpu gets overheated and things may get nasty with it. I've tried once with iBook and trust me that thing went hot !

So its not recommended to do that for a long period of time. May harm your macbook

ok understand..

uninstall apps, we just move it too trash, or if there is uninstall just click it right.

i did try removing 1 application. when i install a newer version of it, i feel something weird, because the previous setting (the apps setting), seem to be copy from the old one that i have delete.

it look like the system did not uninstall the apps completely. why?
*
Its normal. Mac application works this way

Your old settings , etc are stored inside your /Users/<user name>/Library folder

If you really want to un-install an application , including its user saved settings , get App Zapper - it zaps it

I guess you're too used to Windows eh ? OSX works that way. If you delete the application , you're just deleting the core - (only your saved settings would still remain).

i m planning to get a macbook the Rm3.7k 1 or the 4.7k 1.
i dunno which to choose any1 can giv me some idea?

anyway there is another question relate to macbook , can i install windows vista on the mac without using parrellal or bootcamp?
any1 tried to dual boot Vista and OSX on their macbook ?
*
Actually you don't need bootcamp. If you have partitioned your drive properly. you can press and hold c and insert windows disc and install. Boot camp makes it easier by burning you a driver disc so that you can just simply install and forget.

Mr.Lonely

Apple calls dual-booting as boot camp. It basically splits your hard drive into 2 (one for OSX and the other one for Windows). It allows you to dual boot with Windows , its just like a step-by-step guide that guides you through on how to do it. It prepares for you all the drivers , you insert a blank cd and it burns for you the drivers disc - which makes it easier. Boot camp is true installation of the os , no its not virtualisation. If you want to run XP on top of OSX , then use Parallels or VMWare. If you want true windows then use Boot camp - as it allows you to dual boot between xp and osx

2) If you have used Linux. I am sure you heard of GRUB/Lilo (the linux boot loader). Boot camp is actually a package that is a boot loader to load windows and OSX on the same mac. When you boot it allows you to pick if you want to boot to a windows system or OSX. Both are native and installed on hard disc and its not being run on any virtual environment

3) I am guessing the mac that you're referring to is the hardware. Yes , why not. GeForce 9400M isn't a great card however its able to run the latest games at medium-low settings. Dont expect to play at full resolution and such. For casual gaming its okay

omg..

that's it. I am not going to P2P with my MB.. lol..

Added on June 6, 2009, 11:29 pmhey guys, why does sometimes my MB fans suddenly become VERY LOUD.. all out of sudden it is like blowing really hard. it's usually like no sound at all..

The sound only goes away, when I shut down and on it again.

Get CoolBook , its worth it

If you're looking for a freeware solution , try VoodooPower (it works with Macs as well - its a speedstep solution and allows you to control laptop fans as well)

Hi,

Whats the difference between the new MBP17 and the old MBP17, other than os?

Machines old MBP17 only RM8000+ very enticing.

Should I get the old one?

Sorry unipati (I accidentally removed your post - I was trying to remove those spam messages from here)

Generally the new differences , you can take a look for yourself - Longer battery life , new display + SD card slot

So the choice is up to you

Memory leak. It happens at times , sometimes the "memory usage" just leaks and there is no way that the system can remove it and claim it as free space. Generally happens to buggy application and such - that is why you see new versions are released every now and then
