okie check on the price just now...

1)Seagate FreeAgent 500GB =rm619
2)Seagate FreeAgent Cradle =rm85
3)Seagate FreeAgent Extream 1.5TB =rm881
4)Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB =rm506
5)WD Home Firewire 400 1TB =rm595
6)WD Essential USB 1TB =rm521

**Seagate is giving 5 yrs warranty whereas WD is giving 3 yrs only...
practically which brand serve well in 24/7 long term usage...?

***Apple Time Capsule no need to say...any new release for Time Capsule for larger capacity (1.5TB or higher?)

Add on: I think this is a pretty good Apple Website to see which Mac to get "MB VS MBP"  biggrin.gif

Erm,
why is your price so much different from the one listed on the net? This is taken from LYN homepage

Viewnet is offering WD essential usb 1Tb at RM409 (I have ntg to do with them, just that i'm looking for one myself)

Secondly, WD Home studio (The one with Firewiree 800) is 5 years warranty - I think only this model is 5 years, i have this model as well.

Ohh... besides the fact that WD got firewire 800, i chose WD over seagate because of its appearance. Although the morse code was written wrongly in some models (Most people prolly wont even realise it anyway laugh.gif)

Did anyone checkout the new 17" MBP?

QUOTE
The battery in the new 17-inch MacBook Pro lasts up to 8 hours on a single charge1 and can be recharged up to 1000 times2 — compared with only 200 to 300 times for typical notebooks. To do this, Apple engineers custom-designed lithium-polymer cells to create the largest possible battery, then they went even further: They built the battery right into the computer, eliminating the space-consuming mechanisms and housings that standard removable batteries require.

Ermmm.. lets assume that they are not lying with the 1000 charge, and assume the most extreme case that we have to recharge everyday. That's gonna hurt us after 3 years. Since it is built right into to computer, it only means we have to send back to apple for a replacement battery sad.gif

Besides that, being unable to take out my battery when im on AC will drain out my battery right? Last time i read from some article that if my apple battery is above 98% charge, the AC wont charge my battery but my overall MAH is still dropping over time. Anyone see this before?

I know that taking out the battery is a myth but my mbp's MAH is dropping very fast w AC on. Most people i know their MAH is quite good with the normal battery care.. Maybe my battery is faulty sad.gif

Jialat, i changed it before summore..

huh.. u should go apple store and have a checkup. Seriously, if you everyday using AC, the battery last longer.

Yeap, ill do just that..

@rx330, the last time i changed was because my MAH dropped below 60% within 6 months. They gave me a brand new after machines technician verified that.

B.MacBook 13.3" /2.4GHZ /2GB DDR3/250/ Aluminum + Backlit keyboard - retail rm5899
C.MacBook 13.3" /2.1GHZ / 2X512MB / 120GB / white - retail rm3699
D.MacBook 13.3" /2.4GHZ / 2X1GB / 160GB / white - retail rm4499

omg cant make my mind which to get  doh.gif
my usage : surf net, office documentation, music and photos , light photoshop and flash ...

actually prefer macbook white design as i like white color biggrin.gif
set C with 2.1ghz and 2*512mb of ram enough for my usage that stated?
how many space would left for 120gb after OS + ADOBE + Office + some softwares... ?

set D with 2.4ghz and 2*1gb seems better but the price range i can get macbook alu with better GC and multi touch pad ady  doh.gif alamak  doh.gif
izzit worth to get set D ? or C is enough for me ady  sweat.gif
or get the B instead ?  doh.gif lol

You should get the mb that you like even if it is one gen before

Performance-wise any 4 of the above should suffice for you although plenty of ram is good. Ram is easily available outside Apple store/ Apple reseller at a pretty affordable rate so the 2x512 or 2x 1GB ram should not hinder your choice

The price gab between A and C is RM1100. You can easily Buy a 2GB Ram (<RM100), a 250GB WD Passport (<RM300) and plentiful change for other accessories. You can even buy an IPOD NANO with the balance.

If you like white, ill take C anyday (I like the decals that they apply on the white mb.Looks quite cool laugh.gif)

Cheers smile.gif

i also using this case. according to istat pro, the fan run at 1999 - 2003 rpm. is this normal?
*
I leave my fan on default and its always around 2k rpm as well.

When it gets really hot, means non stop work for 3-4 days, then it will rise until 3-3.5k

YOur fan speed is normal. I think 2k is the minimum speed as well? smile.gif

Hi,

I was considering changing my macbook pro (late 2006 Model) to the latest macbook or macbook air series. I am fine with the macbook air setup but i am a bit concerned with the macbook.

My wired mighty mouse usb cable is not long enough to go around the macbook? How right handers deal with this?

About time to buy a Wireless Mightty Mouse...! nod.gif

Then what am i gonna do with my existing mm? laugh.gif It served me well for 3 years already (Yes,the scroll dont work anymore but i dont use it anymore anyway).

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 22 2009, 09:46 AM)
pmsoo, ur wired mm taken from imac?
*
No, That's even shorter! laugh.gif

I bought a retail one.

I find the current design really strange for right-handers which are the majority users in the world..
Or they forcing us to get the wireless mm? sad.gif

so for the new macbooks, what exact RAM specifications are we looking at?

and does the macbook come with 2 pieces of 1gb RAM or 1 single piece of 2gb ram?

I'm trying to see if the current promotion of free upgrade to 4gb RAM with ACPP is a good promo as compared to buying the RAM on my own and getting ACPP later on. rather have free computer sleeves, mice, etc etc if getting outside is cheaper
*
This is how i look at the machines promo

Macbook (Fixed) + ACCP (RM849) = Free 4GB Ram

Cheapest 1066hz DDR3 2GB @ Viewnet = RM269
4GB = RM538

The real cost of the ACCP is actually (RM849-RM538) RM311 for 2 years extra warranty. I think that is a good price. Not the best but certainly helps.

thanks frozz

so if i upgrade on my own... say, I buy 2 pieces of 2GB RAM Kingston DDR3 1066MHz for about 250bucks each. that's already 500bucks.

I'm essentially paying only 389 for the ACPP then.

Makes the promo sound like a good deal. Only downside is that you can't keep them 1GB sticks but why would you unless u have another laptop lying around.

any others would like to share their thoughts about the current promotion?

or does buying 250bucks RAM from lowyat, and then getting the ACPP from ebay still the better choice?
*
Unless u can get ACCP for less than RM311, i dont see how that is a better choice. And through Machines, they setup everything for you nice nice as well instead of DIY.
