would like to ask what you guys think of refurbished units? is it worth buying? im kinda in doubt, the refurbished macbook 2.0 is selling for RM4,099, which is RM700 cheaper than the original price..

in machines website they state:

QUOTE
Most of the refurbished units are returned often unused, the technicians then retest and repair if neccessary, ensuring that these products meet the same quality standards as required for brand new product. All refurbished units come complete in its original box and packaging.

however they state this at the end leaving me in doubt:

QUOTE
Just set an appointment with our Machines Plus team, for you to come personally and check the condition of the unit before you make the decision to purchase.

like if it is really works as a brand new should, then they wouldnt need to really point that out would they?

QUOTE
Most of the refurbished units are still covered by the standards warranty. But its adviced that you insist to purchase the extended AppleCare Protection Plan for total peace of mind.

kinda makes me feel as though in half a year, its gonna start causing problems..

hey the EFI update is ONLY for the new macbook pros... thats why jind86 got a message telling him he doesnt need the update. the EFI update was to rectify the reduced Sata bandwidth if im not mistaken. all macbooks and earlier macbookpros dont need the update.

hey guys, i would like to know the way the mac share power wit the XP, like for example i was playing around wit my cousin's macbook which has 4gig of ram on it, then i switch it to XP n i check the system on the xp, it was only running on 512mb of ram. is it possible for u to adjust how much power u want the mac to give to the xp side?

and aslo if u wanna play high end games that runs on pc will the mac give up the graphic card and ram to support the game that is running on the xp? hmm.gif

are you running XP natively on your mac? if yes, what software are you using?

for parallels, goto Virtual Machine > Configure > Memory

there you can choose how much memory you'd like to set for XP..

thanks for the reply jind86 notworthy.gif

i see, so it's possible to shift the ram...um i'm not sure, it's my cousin's mac, i'm a mac virgin, and thinking of crossing over. he was running it on parallel i think, (side by side thingy mac's OS on the left XP on the right)...and how about the GPU usage? like for gaming on the XP side, will it fully dedicate it self to the XP side?

yup, oh but remember, you can't adjust the settings when XP is actively running..

"Note: These settings cannot be changed when the virtual machine is running."

for more info, click Help tab in Parallels and search for "RAM".. click on the first topic which appears..

yeah for gaming it is better to use Boot Camp to fully utilize your resources..
