biggrin.gif Hello, I am a newbie here. I bought a MacBookPro 2.53GHz 15 inch in early December 08. It was a big ticket purchase for me. I have a Dell desktop that runs on Windows xp (3 years old) which is working fine. Initially I had to get used to the new system as Mac Os was new to me. Now after 1 month, I must say, it has been an interesting 1 month for me and it has been great. Now I am able to utilize it well thanks to all your input in this forum besides others that I visit. This forum really rocks!

I have no regrets so far except for a few minor annoyance such as it is not possible to play my PC games in my new rig. (there are loads of RM7.00 games for PC but hardly for Mac os)

I also realized that websites such as AIA is not Mac Os friendly and website of some financial institutions. I am not into "Fusion"or "Parallel" so no Windows in my Mac.

I just installed ClamXav but like most people will say, it is more to "protect" the Windows Os in my other computer rather than for Mac Os.

Mac Os is really cool. Yet to experience and major glitches so far.

Planning to get AppleCare before the 1 year grace period.

Thanks for all for the interesting discussions . Really learn a lot of tips form them

Cheers! biggrin.gif

When I try to surf the AIA website, what I get is :

" Currently AIA Corporate Web does not support web browsers other than Microsoft Internet Explorer."

I have tried FireFox but to no avail.
Guess there are sites that is not compatible with Mac Os but it's a small matter.

I seem to have no problem assessing the DHL Malaysia Website.

The laptop that you need depends on your purpose for it. If you need to do video editing etc, you should consider MacBook Pro with its 15 inch screen. Otherwise MacBook with its 13 inch screen should do fine.

Don't worry about the os. I was a recent "convert" too and you can get tons of info online from sites like this one or from Apple website or the threads for newbies. Soon you would be wondering why you did not "convert" earlier.

Take some time and "play" around with the MacBook and MacBook Pro on display at the resellers and decide.

It is recommended that you get the ACPP (Apple care protection plan) anytime within 1 year of purchasing. That would extend your warranty for another 2 years (or 3 years from the time of purchase of the MacBook/Pro.

It is highly recommended because once the 1 year warranty is up and your Mac developed some hardware problems then you are on your own if you do not have APCC. Mind you anything that bears the Apple logo is expensive so you can imagine how much it would cost you later. Get APCC for your peace of mind.

Cheers and happy shopping!
