Bootcamp. I only play games on my windows XP. If use VMWare need to share the ram and resources with the Mac OS. Better to use bootcamp. Besides, bootcamp is built in. VMWare need to buy again.

i dont know of any mac-specific torrent sites, but most of them will do. isohunt, piratebay, mininova..they have plenty of mac stuff as well. just add "DMG" to ur search results (e.g. "adobe photoshop cs4 dmg")

for ur video problem, have u tried VLC yet? i think most of us here are using VLC to play videos cuz of its wide codec support unlike quicktime
*
well i dont use VLC i just extend the capabilities of quicktime through perian,it has multiple codecs.

I don't know if they give back the 2gb RAM after the upgrade but if they do, you can always sell it off to get the extra $$$.

Same if you upgrade the RAM yourself, take out the OLD stock ones and you can sell it at a good price since it's still new. That should cover some of the expenses from getting the new RAM.

But ACPP is the most important thing here.
*
err u do realize no one else has ddr3 ram apart from apple, and plus who u gonna sell 2? everyone's macbooks and pro except the high end 2.53 MBP comes with 1x1GB pairing, its not like apple notebooks has 4 slots, its just 2 slots,so even if machines give back the 1x1GB pairing you are just gonna stash them somewhere and becomes paper weight eventually,no point keeping it and also no one is gonna buy it,trust me since DDR3 has no backwards compatibility with DDR2.

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Feb 6 2009, 01:00 AM)
So you mean only Apple using DDR3 and PC won't (or not) be using it? I don't think so (try googling DDR3 laptops and there are quite a few of 'em) and I know apple notebooks come with just 2 slots. How do you know there won't be anyone interested in buying the RAMs? Put it on ebay (or any other auctioning sites) and there will be buyers. Unless the RAMs are tailor made to your own machines then it would be a paperweight.  doh.gif
*
err, cmon even the PC notebooks comes with 1x1 pairing so i stand corrected, whats with all the trouble of putting it on ebay and waiting for someone to get it? Might aswell trade it in and get the 2x2GB pairing, seriously theres no other pc manufacturer that retrofit their notebooks with 512x512 DDR3,the lowest spec now is 1x1 pairing. The new HP pavillion DV4,5 and 6 comes standard with 2GB DDR3.

wanna ask you guys about hdd upgrading. going from a 5400rpm hdd to a 7200rpm hdd, will i be seeing a significant or minor decrease in battery life?

i was thinking of the seagate momentus 7200.2 or 7200.3 model. the .3 model has better power savings, supposedly.
*
it'll up the battery consumption mate, heating and also vibration will be an issue.

@dvlzplayground

lol,i meant i was corrected when he said there are some pc laptops with ddr3, but again if the ram breaks makes more sense to persuade you to go for a better 2x2 pairing. Actually IMHO the 7200RPM wont be that good for the previous gen MB white,or the merom MBP,the rattle can be felt. Battery consumption will also be high.

*
zarule im assuming you are illiterate about currency conversion and i have taken the liberty to show you the price differences.

UK
MB (White) 2.0 = GBP 719 = MYR 3800.15
MB (Alu) 2.0 = GBP 929 = MYR 4900.07
MB (Alu) 2.4 = GBP 1125 = MYR 5945.99

MBP (Alu 15inch 2.4) = GBP 1369 = MYR 7235.61
MBP (Alu 15inch 2.53) = GBP 1712 = MYR 9048.48
MBP (Alu 17inch 2.66) = GBP 1949 = MYR 10301.10

Add 15% VAT to the goods to get an accurate pricing

MY
MB (White) 2.0 = MYR 3699
MB (Alu) 2.0 = MYR 4799
MB (Alu) 2.4 = MYR 5499

MBP (Alu 15inch 2.4) = MYR 7199
MBP (Alu 15inch 2.53) = MYR 8999
MBP (Alu 17inch 2.66) = MYR 100099

Malaysia wins hands down, like they say, hujan batu di negeri, hujan batu di negeri orang.lebih baik di negeri sendiri

dude, dont u ever do research? 17inch MBP alu is not even out anywhere in the world.

@crazyee
hmm, seems your school is one of the selected schools who partners with apple to give the students more discount. I came across the 50GBP ACPP from an apple support page earlier, very good deal indeed.

there are 2 levels of education discount for apple store UK.

one is education discount for K12 and college students where they get approx 10% discount on mac products except the ipods

The higher edu (HE) discount is only valid for UK university student with valid NUS card (if you buy in apple store) and you can access the HE online store from within your uni network only.
