Well, optimal settings usually means the best for your graphic/processer.

Best also usually means what it says.

What i recommend you doing is eventually reducing your resolution to at least 800x600.
There may be other tweaks to the settings, like turning off shadows, bullet holes and ragdoll effects.
Disable Anti-Aliasing and also Filtering.

Usually if your laptop is good enough, it generally only needs resolution tuning, just by lowering it the performance increases. Try these out first, any other console command will only reduce the visual detail, which might reduce your overall satisfaction of the game. So before i go there, try the settings above first smile.gif

Do you plan on playing online? If so, maybe you could try the following first...

open console

type

r_drawdecals 0
r_lodscalerigid 4
r_drawsun 0
cg_brass 0

Heh, it's somehow possible to tweak the setting to look something like this

I have no idea how it's done. If you can do it, it'll solve all your lagging issue (other than ISP problem).

sm_enable 0
r_dlight_limit 0
dynent_active 0

errr.... isn't that setting redundant if the TS isn't running on SLI/crossfire cards?

Kinda hard to recognise that map... is it Overgrown? The fuel container was sort of a giveaway.

If you don't have a decent graphic card (or u are using integrated graphics) then you might lag when playing COD.

Before I install my current graphic card (ATI HD4670) I was using integrated graphics. When I was playing COD4 it was like.. lagging like hell... Even 800x600 will lag seriously...

But then now I am using my graphic card, even if i use highest resolution with maximum graphics quality everything is so smooth and nice. I can even play Devil May Cry 4 with max settings smoothly.

Juz my 2 cents
