doberman`s ears are meant to be crop to prevent thief or bad guys pull their ears when the dobe bitting them.
it seems to be cruel but since you need a guard dog then you might need to be ready for this situation.
anyway. i need a female dobe for my dobe cause i wish to have a puppy of my dobe`s line.hhahaha will try to post the photo of my dobe later.

stop feeding brand tht contain by-products.. switch to brands like innova, orijen, solid gold.... do make your own food at times... include red meat, chicken breat, carrots amd etc etc if you have the time... dobermans are prone to skin issues!!

i would suggest not to buy in pet shop or mudah.com
cause u dont know about the quality of the dog..
but if u r just wantting a dog without care about the quality.. then it;s fine
look around n search for doberman breeder ..

hello there, i've a dobe for about 7 years now biggrin.gif

This is my experience of having a dobe... There are alot hates and loves.. BUT YES, i love him sooooooooo much !

Okay, i had dobe since it was at the age of 1 month or 2 months? not pretty sure.. but i rmb it was very skinny and small yet he had just learnt to walk around nicely.. never really climb stairs or walk in rough path.. It's a very 'busy body dog' and can't seem to stop his own feet to walk around and become nuisance..

However, I saw one of the post saying that 'my dog doesn't care about me until I only have food' < sorry to say this but my dog don't even care about me even I have food and I've spoilt my dog by feeding it using my own hand. The advantage point here is your dog wouldn't go simply eat food that is loitering around the ground but the bad part is.. you need to console the dog to eat from it's bowl almost every meal ! That's what happen to my dobe D:

It's a very active dog and so yes, during pre-mature age for dobe , he's very active. For my experience, I taught my dobe to play ball with me. Although, it's not a big success to teach him to kick or something but he prefer to bite. I tried wit frisbee but it doesn't work. Seems like he love ball alot. However, when he was young, my aunt who stays wit us likes to use some cloth that we don't need it, to fling and play wit it. My dobe loves to challenge and pull/drag wit my aunt. From time to time, he got bigger we stop doing it however... as you know that dogs have great noses. He would pull the clothes that being wring out to dry under the sun. He would do anything to drag anyone's attention. It happens during the 1st 3 years. You might experience alot of trouble keeping your dog discipline. Believe me, I've gone mad with this dog and smacked his butt for pulling my clothes and create a hole on new branded clothes!

But after the 3-4 years, he's more calm but still nuisance. And as for you wanted it to be a guard dog? I think it wouldn't be a very very good option for that. However, I can't guarantee all dobe is the same. My dog is very friendly but judgin but it's barking and looks. It's very fierce and the barking is very loud. Asume it would scare off the thieves. I've done some research and they did mention about this dog is a similar type wit dalmation so it's consider as friendly i guess? He's a very alert dog for sure but guard dog = fight? i am not sure about it.

i've got a female dobe.. she has being with me for almost 2 years.. she is a well behave girl other than when she sees strangers, then she will bark fiercely and loudly.. she is a fine dog.. and the only problem that i have with her is when i need to walk her in the evening.. she will be overly jumpy and playful, i guess she is too excited with the walk.. and it's very difficult to ask her to sit quietly so that i can leashed her.. any dobie owner is having this problem too, how do you handle this? thanks.. blink.gif
