Madea Goes to Jail is an upcoming 2009 crime comedy-drama film adaptation written and directed by Tyler Perry, which was inspired by Perry's play of the same name. The film centers on Perry's well-known character Mable "Madea" Simmons. An exclusive free preview of the upcoming movie is included on the cinematic release of Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys.

Plot

At long last, Madea returns to the big screen. This time America's favorite irreverent, pistol-packin' grandmomma is raising hell behind bars and lobbying for her freedom...Hallelujer!

After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe (TYLER PERRY) couldn't be happier at Madea's misfortune. But Madea's eccentric family members Leroy And Cora Brown (DAVID and TAMALA MANN) rally behind her, lending their special "country" brand of support.

Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway (DEREK LUKE) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle - defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (KEISHA KNIGHT PULLIAM) - and asks his fiancée and fellow ADA Linda Holmes (ION OVERMAN) to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail, Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a "motherly" way as only Madea can

New Madea Goes To Jail Trailer

The teaser trailer for Madea Goes to Jail which played in theaters a few months ago made the movie look like Earnest Goes to Jail. For the first time in my life, I actually considered seeing a Madea movie willingly. Those feelings of vague interest in slapstick comedy are gone now, washed away by the film’s first full trailer over at Yahoo. Gone are the wacky prison hijinks, replaced by more of Tyler Perry’s preachy morality and warm, soul-filling music.

Madea goes to prison yes, but while she’s there she teaches troubled women the right way to live. Of course you have to wonder what business she has preaching to others when she herself is so violent she had to be tossed behind bars for the safety of others. Great role model there Mr. Perry.

Watch the new, full trailer for Madea Goes to Jail in high-res over on at Yahoo, or watch it below:
