guys how do we purchase an iphone in the US?

Been using apple products for few years back, switching frens from other brands to apple
Be it computers or mobile phones
Saying how good the software is, the hardware is, the warranty service is

Last Friday, i bought a white iphone 4 outright from ATR, have to pay extra rm 200 on top of retail, which includes some unwanted items. Its fine, i dun mind, as the phone is a gift for someone

Sunday receive a call, the phone isnt working
There is no sound from the phone
(it may be my fault for not trying it on the spot, the phone is to remain wrapped as it was suppose to be a gift)

Collect the phone yesterday, n personally tested it myself, same thing, no sound

Just made a call to ATR today, there is no such thing as one to one exchange
what they are saying is there is a 7 days warranty (which i dun really understand what it means)
So i need to send down the phone, n wait till dunno god knows wen to get it back, be it a brand new set or a refurbished, i would have no idea at all

Seriously, im quite pissed off, dunno with apple? their products? or with the reseller or with the terms n regulations here
im purchasing something that is abt 2.5k ( too some may be cheap), DOA, and i still need to wait for it till god knows when

im not too sure will this thread be deleted or not, i hope it wont

i really hope the rights of consumers here should be improved, and not to be treated in this manner

their phone is from maxis itself

im based in johor bahru, i need to go all the way to klcc maxis to get a one to one exchange?

i remember spore do practice one to one exchange, its basically a DOA unit

or is it my fault in the 1st place for not checking?

it has maxis warranty card stuck at the side of the box somemore

i have purchase gifts from apple tat cost way more than iphone 4, neither did i open it on the spot
heck, i dun remember i have this habit of doing tat
i prefer to devirginalise my goods at my own sweet home or time

so i dun return the phone to ATR? just send it to maxis center? lets hope tomolo i dun get on the news for running amok in maxis center

well, i call up ATR, tats the reply they gave
they did not ask me to go straight to maxis though
i bought the phone last friday, so technically, i have till thursday

yes, tats wat im afraid of, mostly replacement sets are refurbished, but then again, getting a new set with problem is better than getting a refurbished set with no problems?

sigh... will make a trip to maxis n see what they can do, for which i dun think there will be any good news

i always have this mindset apple product, if DOA, there shud be 1 to 1 exchange, i remember tats wat i was told wen i purchase certain item from a reseller in spore, or i may be fooled or misheard
