Hi, based on the posts on the 1st page of this thread, i think you should be able to come up with some calculations on which is the cheapest and how to get them...

in my opinion i think the NZ one is the easiest and cheapest to get now. the NZ exchange rate is not that high either.... anyone please correct me if i'm wrong or if you know of a cheaper alternative...hehe

cheers!

QUOTE(barteria @ Jun 29 2009, 11:41 PM)
one noob question here.

"All iPhone 2Gs can be fully unlocked using software. In fact, the iPhone 2Gs which you can readily find at most Malaysian hand phone outlets today are fully unlocked. You don't even have to worry about anything. Just pop in your SIM and you are good to go."

1. does it means that i don't need to worry abt buying a locked iphone 2G because most iphone 2G are already unlocked? but there will still be a possibilities a locked iphone 2G out there right?

2. WHAT IF, i buy an unlocked iphone 2G with older os. will it be locked after i update to 3.0 os like most iphone 3G?

3. correct me if im wrong. maxis iphones are the only official unlocked iphones in malaysia, right? so, does it means that if i buy from maxis can use the iphone right away? no need jailbreaking n unlocking?

sorry if u already stated this. maybe i missed it, or maybe not. pls don't be mad with these questions.

Answers:

1. Yes most probably iphone 2Gs will already be unlocked for you when you buy them... if it's locked there's already software to unlock it on your own..

2. Yes after you update to 3.0 it will be locked again but you can use redsnow to unlock it. I have yet to try it but some ppl here have already done it to their iphone 2Gs

3. Maxis iphones are the only officially unlocked iphones "with warranty" in Malaysia. there are also other officially unlocked phones from NZ, Aussie, Singapore etc but warranty is not availble locally that's all... And yes u can use the phone right away without unlocking.. Jailbreaking is optional

You can get more info by reading the pinned threads... i'm still reading hahaha thumbup.gif

yup, agree with g3n0c|d3.. especially the price for the 16GB one.. it's not a bad price.. was considering between Aussie sets or Maxis. but if the price is almost the same, getting the maxis one will be better and hassle free... plus u get local warranty too...
