The guide at the front page is very very useful indeed, to test my new iphone 4. Everything works fine, i'm very happy now~ Except that the edges of my screen protector doesn't stick nicely...>.< Trying to make it stick...grrr~

hi nimrod,if only everyone did the way you're suggesting right now, there shouldn't be any complains on the death grip issue, yellow pixel or blue tint camera problem,etc........ from the start sad.gif 1 to 1 exchange on the spot(steve jobs never need to give free bumper to those users)
I do fully agree that we have to inspect our phones parts one by one but as for me myself,I would have forgotten to check some parts of the phone like this time but luck is on my side doh.gif
As for buying a car as a example, its far more complicated to test/inspect a car with such a short time.......no point comparing it with Iphone.Even though inspect a new car,we can only inspect those on the surface/superficial of the car itself not deep inside

Actually, you can, and you SHOULD test. I did it myself, and i did it for my friend. As in my friend's case, i tested his iPhone and found out that his phone has faulty vibration. We did 1-to-1 change on the spot within 15-20 minutes. You don't need to be at the counter to test the phone. Once they activated your phone, you can go somewhere else, look for a seat (McD, KFC, FoodCourt, anywhere?), then test whatever that can be tested on the spot. Trust me, if you know what to test, it will only takes 5-10 minutes, and you can test most of it. There are guidelines in the pinned thread for testing your iPhone. I'll give you some general guidelines here.

1. Try the vibration switch (just above the volume button). If you can feel the vibration, it works. If you can't, check the settings, turn on the vibration in the settings and try again. If you still cannot feel the vibration, then it's faulty.
2. 3G/GPS: Turn them on in settings, then open the default "Map" application. If the map is able to load, and it can detect where you are right now, then both of them are working.
3. Camera: Just use the default camera app. While you're here, turn on the LED light too. Check both front and back camera (you can switch it in the app itself)
4. Accelerometer: While you're in the camera app, try turning your phone from portrait mode to landscape mode. The buttons should change its direction accordingly
5. Wifi: Maxis have set up wifi in KLCC, just connect to it, open your safari, and see if it loads any webpage. (Turn off your 3G and cellular data in settings first)
6. Screen/Phone: Check it in general, check your volume buttons and make sure they are in the right place, press each button to make sure they are clickable, see if there's yellowish/bluish/etc tint, check for scratches, check for gaps in between the glass and the metal bezel (Hairline scratches at the Home Button is common though, so just ignore that)
7. Phone/Mic/Speaker/Proximity Sensor: Call someone, anyone. Talk to them on the phone, ask them if they can hear you clearly, and make sure you can hear them clearly. Try turning on the speaker and talk to your friend again. Check the Proximity sensor here too.
8. Cross check the IMEI number on the box and in your phone (It's in Settings --> About)
9. Check whatever you feel like checking tongue.gif
