can anyone help me? i am so confused with all the complications of getting a legally unlocked iphone 3G. Budget is 2700 for a 16GB set..
im not staying in malaysia, im in Brunei at the moment. could u see if this set is okay? http://www.qqestore.com/product_info.php?c...oducts_id=14369 it states that "This is an original Apple iPhone set which is SIM-FREE version (no need to "unlock" for it to work) by Apple. It works for any telco globally including DSTCom and B.Mobile" but i dont know.. i heard so much stories about i3gs getting bricked when updating the firmware cause the phone was not legally unlocked in the first place and i DONT want this to happen. This phone is a bit pricy compared to those in malaysia but i do not mind as it has 1 year warranty compared to those i have seen in low yat (i went there last month). so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated |

I would suggest also that you ask for the 'iPhone 3G Part Numbers'. Cross reference the number with the link below.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 For more info, read Section 'D' : Required Testing When Purchasing on the first post. Cheers |

QUOTE(nokia2003 @ Mar 29 2009, 01:10 PM) Try creating a local iTunes account and then synchronise your iPhone again via iTunes. Should that remains unsolved, please post your concerns here again. Thanks Nokie2003, it works and i can put some song to my iphone using the Itune. But still, i am not able to connect directly to Itune using my iphone as it said 'not available in this country'. I would like to inform all to-be Iphone user when you purchase an iphone especially at lowyat plaza, please becareful with the salesman, check the part number in the iphone and check at apple.com. too bad i forgot to get any receipt from the salesman, and i went back to lowyat the other day they insists it's singapore fully unlocked iphone but unfortunately i don't have internet with me at that time so i can only check it once i reach home, and it is really a aussie iphone! it's really a bad experience and don't think i want to purchase handphone in lowyat plaza anymore as most of the handphone salesman looks underage and try to con ppl. such a dissapointment.. |

Hi, based on the posts on the 1st page of this thread, i think you should be able to come up with some calculations on which is the cheapest and how to get them...
in my opinion i think the NZ one is the easiest and cheapest to get now. the NZ exchange rate is not that high either.... anyone please correct me if i'm wrong or if you know of a cheaper alternative...hehe cheers! |

QUOTE(Suk @ Apr 3 2009, 05:05 AM) May I know, where is the cheapest Iphone i can get ( not locally) Whilst pricing is a factor, you should also consider the warranty aspect. If there is a problem with the phone, having it taken back to those far away countries can be a hassle. So getting it from Singapore(which you can buy from one of the many resellers here who also helps in taking the phone for repairs/replacement) may be a better alternative though you have to pay a little higher, albeit not that much.b'coz I got friends in UK, Australia, HK, NZ, all of them might coming back this year.
