So for those who have seen DBE, would you go for the sequel?

Dragonball Evolution Sequel: It’s (Probably) Not Going to Happen

The good folks at DBlegends.com spoke to a representative at Fox, who stated that a sequel to the much-criticized Dragonball: Evolution is still possible… maybe. In 20 years perhaps? This is what she said:

It could happen. Who knows? We have Wall Street 2 coming out this year, and the first one was 20 years ago!

In other words, it’s not going to happen. Wait, let me rephrase that. It’s not going to happen while the fanbase still cares. Maybe we’ll get a movie years from now and they’ll treat it like Speed Racer (an old anime that was brought back to life as a movie in 2008) but not as a relevant, kick-ass, big budget action tent-pole.

Fox is clueless. They don’t know what made the anime great and they certainly aren’t smart enough to hire a writer that does. Back when we reported constantly on DB:E on the real dbthemovie.com (long story short: don’t visit that shitty site anymore, THIS is the true new home of dbthemovie) we were optimistic. But our optimism quickly died shortly after watching the movie. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world as some people claimed, but it wasn’t good. It was like The Phantom Menace without the awesome special effects and budget.

I do understand those of you who want more movies. I do too. But I don’t want any more from Fox. If there ever comes a day when Fox sells the film rights to a competent company, THEN I will be interested, and then maybe we’ll finally get our Dragonball movie.

From this point on I probably won’t be updating on Dragonball: Evolution. It’s over, there’s no point in continuing to beat a dead horse. However, if any new substantial evidence comes to light about a sequel or remake, I will do my best to find out everything I can. Until then, we’ll be resuming normal non-evolution related posting shortly. I’ve been dealing with a death in the family so I couldn’t update the site until now.
