SpOOkY: The Sony 24-105mm F3.5-4.5 seems alright; no underexposure at 105mm (unless you were on M mode and forgot to adjust shutter speed accordingly after zooming in.)

gabriellai: Don't shoot into the sun. That's flare. It could also be due to a cheap UV filter.

ohzmygod: D type lenses have a distance encoder - the lens tells the camera what is the distance of the focused subject. So if the subject is 2 meters away, when the camera uses direct forward flash (Advanced Distance Integration) it will use a power setting that's enough to light the subject at 2 meters (and use Through The Lens metering.)

* Through The Lens metering = it pre-flashes one time at a certain power, then checks whether the power is too low or too high, and fires again at the correct power, a few milliseconds later. This happens so fast you don't see the pre-flash.

joker_jr: Every modern dSLR uses passive autofocus.

Active autofocus means it sends a beam, and detects the distance of the focused subject by seeing how long it takes to reflect back to the camera, like sonar. Passive autofocus means it just takes in light. This is not to be confused with the AF assist light, which is like shining a torchlight to help with passive autofocus.

Ahmike: Eh itu Minolta 400mm lah don't change it to a Tamron 400mm. tongue.gif

ryzan76, nice smoking man!

dark lenanza: The Remote Commander clip is a little latch-like thing that fits on your neck strap. It's used when you have a shutter cable release - unlatch the clip and put the cable inside the 'drain'. I would take a picture if I had one LOL.

I'm pretty sure it comes with even the A200 as I've helped friends put camera straps on. The Remote Control only comes with the A700/A900. biggrin.gif

vcvx: I make pre-made gel holders that can be quickly removed. But you're all the way over there so I can't help you.

Look for a specialist photography studio equipment shop - they will stock the gels. Look for a full CTO (color temperature orange). Half CTOs also work but I don't really feel the need for them as it irks me if you only go halfway to getting rid of the tungsten cast.

The other way is horrenduously tedious - shoot RAW, then export 2 JPGs, one at 5500K and the other at 2800K. Then you merge them... but often, skintones will have a bit of both ambient tungsten and flash so it's one or the other. Not pretty at all.

dark lenanza: The Remote Commander clip is circled in red:

This is the eyepiece cover (cropped from my point-and-shoot, obviously the camera was in the picture):

I don't have any more pictures of it as I usually tuck the strap away when taking a picture of my Alpha.

The A900 is the only Alpha which does not come with an eyepiece cover as it has a built-in eyepiece shutter (to prevent light from entering from the viewfinder during long exposures.) The eyepiece cover also holds the flash hotshoe cover that comes with the A100/A700/A900.

vcvx: Velcro is a bit iffy and slow. I prefer my method, gel held in place by cardboard, and anchored by the diffuser panel:

dark lenanza: Got lah, they are loose pieces deep inside the box. You have to put them on the strap yourself. I know because whenever I help friends buy an A200 I help them install the strap also.

shootkk: Nice layouts! Not overdone.

dingenius: Actually you don't need the cover. It prevents oxidization but you can scrape it off with your fingernails, and anyway I never used the cover once I got the flash because it's just too tedious.

About straps and covers and stuff, which comes with which:

Flash hotshoe cover (Sony FASHC1AM) - A100, A700, A900
Remote Commander clip - A100, A200, A300, A350, A700, A900
Eyepiece cover / flash hotshoe cover holder - A100, A200, A300, A350, A700
Cheap Sony neckstrap (SONY letters can fall off) - A200, A300, A350
Good Sony neckstrap - A100, A700, A900
Wireless Infrared Remote Control - A700, A900

Could a moderator put this on the front page? Thanks!

jimlim007: Eh don't say like that lah. sad.gif If I didn't circle OVER the LCD screen you'd see the A100 text there. biggrin.gif The Konica Minolta 5D, Konica Minolta 7D and Sony A100 all had 2 dials.

ikttan: Wah cool, normally they don't know what it is. sad.gif But it's always good to install it in case you ever get a remote shutter cable and/or shoot fireworks/night skies!
