TS: Try using process explorer and see what's going on. U can download Process Explorer from MS website i think. It's much better than the task manager in windows as it tells u a lot more. It helps me in identifying my ex-ASUS M3A mobo is having problem.

izzit normal vista using more than 2gb of physical memory? my dell seem so sluggish when using autocad. I check with task manager and my ram usage already 2gb, for this is abnormal for mew system.
BTW here is my spec:
core2duo p8400, hd3650,4gb ram, 320gb, vista premium.

google chrome 4 tab, autocad, ym =2gb ram.
google chrome 4 tab, autocad, ym, ms outlook =2.3gb ram

i only install CnC tiberium war and RA3, panda antivirus(off), office, adobe acrobat and the rest is still stock application from dell.

Urm. I've not used AutoCAD before but I'm sure it'll hog a lot of resources because from what I heard it's a very advanced piece of software that requires quite high-end specs. flex.gif Btw, your Dell Studio laptop is using 800MHz or 667MHz RAM? (I saw 800MHz in your siggy, and I was like drool.gif).

AutoCAD not really hog lot off resource, well depend on what kind of drawing u're doing. but my point here this laptop perform worst than my acer in autocad only the rest is excellent.
off topic: yup my dell using DDR800 but with CL6.0, centrino 2 chipset. still not really zippy like desktop.

Mhmm, that's odd. If you dare, I'd recommend that you download and install Vista SP1 update from here (Official download and installation link from Microsoft). Make sure that no peripherals except your mouse, keyboard and display is plugged in while installing SP1. Btw, mind posting the specs of your computer?

My Vista in idle uses 500MB of RAM++. Damn it, 4 kg for your specs is very heavy. Anyway, I stopped using PCs already even though I still have them and use them occasionally. For 4 kgs, I may as well purchase a MacBook Pro (I'm a Mac user) which is lighter and almost same specs. But MacBook Pro is damn expensive. Currently using 2X MacBooks. tongue.gif

IE 8 BETA or bread and butter IE 7? Make sure that your version of IE, if your using IE 8 BETA is 64-Bit.
