Just bought my first ever PDA phone - HTC Touch HD from PC Fair, Persada Johor! The sad part is PDA Expert is the only booth selling PDAs sad.gif

Got it for RM3299, including 1 year extended warranty, car charger, car holder, extra pouch, Jabra bluetooth headset.

I think they still have 3 more units left after me and my friend bought 1 HD each.

SiS....since I filled in their Privillege Member application form.

From what I know MobiSure is an insurance scheme from AIG, and with your phone protected against theft, water, accidents, they'll attempt to fix/replace your phone FOC. But then you have to pay a monthly fee (From the brochures the general plan is RM33.50 monthly for HTC Touch HD, and general accidents + theft is RM 61.95/month) They are offering a free 1 month trail just now anyway.....

Seems like I have to send in the unit to be repaired. Soft reset doesn't help (well, absolutely won't help since it's a LCD screen related problem).

Called PDA Expert and they advised me to send back the unit to them....there it goes....

guyz,

short advice: hold ur HD tight every time.

I dropped by HD from my sofa to the floor and the vibration function wont work since. So i went to SIS and get one-to-one replacement the day after.

Besides the HD drop-to-the-floor issue, my opinion on SIS customer care office:
- service : 8/10
- knowledge : 8/10
- office convenience : 4/10
- location: 4/10

all in all, i dont believe such company can have such a bad customer care environment. 1st class technology with 3rd world country environment. hehe.

Just wondering is it ok that if I send my HD straight to SiS without going thru PDA Expert first? Since I'll be going to Penang now, it'll be more logical if I just send straight to their Penang branch......

P/S: I don't have my proof-of-purchase with me right now rclxub.gif Is it still possible to claim warranty from SiS???

The receipt is already far beyond my reach now (In Perak now, receipt left in Johor house...dang!)

Tomorrow heading to Penang, that's why I thought of sending my HD straight to SiS branch...

sad case i have to send back my HD to sis for 1 tot 1 ... due to the power button error and dead pixel

I also got my HD sent directly to SiS Penang when I noticed a green line on my screen last 2 weeks. They say they'll replace a new set for me, but they told me it'll take some time since it was holiday season previously. But since I am at Johor liao....the earliest I could collect back my HD is around CNY T_T

P/S: To those who were concerned about my case last time, it seems that a receipt is not mandatory to claim your warranty as long your phone is a valid original set from Malaysia. As for my phone it was being told to be 1 week earlier than my purchase date(they can check from their system)

From SiS webpage:
"Warranty Policy
1) Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. HTC will consider your warranty to have stated on the date of purchase as indicated on your receipt.

2) If you have misplaced your receipt, HTC will consider the warranty coverage to have started based on the date your device was shipped from the factory."

Is there an easier way to make the HD not to turn off the screen itself automatically duing Garmin GPS navigation?

So far I have to go thru the hard way by changing the power settings each time

Go to GARMIN / SETTINGS / DISPLAY / BACKLIGHT OVERRIDE,

then select ALWAYS ON if you need the backlight on all the time
(the default settings is ON WHEN CHARGING + ON WHEN NAVIGATING)
p/s - Don't you notice the GPS is lagging by 3-4 seconds or 200-400meter behind your car actual position?
*
Thanks! That solved my problem smile.gif And yeah, I have to agree with you that the GPS lags behind by a few seconds. But so far I can still live with it.

Can someone shed some light on this problem....? It's been bugging me for quite some time... Already installed .NET CF v3.5 for my HD (into system storage)

But the problem is each soft reset gives me this startup error message:

".NET CF Initialization Error"
The application failed to load required components. If the .NET Compact Framework is installed on a storage card, please ensure that this card is in place and launch the application again. If this fails, a re-installation of the .NET Compact Framework is recommended. Support info: -2147479552 (8000010000)

P/S: Already tried to reinstall a few times but still gave out the same warning. But when I tried to execute programs which required .NET CF v3.5 they ran fine.

I got a question here....

Let's say that I flashed cooked ROM, say, Davideuck_V-5_HP via USPL method and later the device has to be sent back for warranty.

From my understanding USPL doesn't change the original SPL, so when I flash back to HTC's original ROM can I just simply run the original RUU without anything to be done before hand??

And the 2nd thing is assume that I wanted to flash to another cooked ROM, if my previous attempt is done via USPL, does that mean that before flashing the new ROM I need to relaunch USPL first, then flash the cooked ROM that I wanted? (Without flashing back to HTC's original ROM).

Hope to clear things up before I try to do it for the first time hmm.gif
