I installed QuickMenu 2.8 and keep the new HTC Start Menu still accessible by tap & holding the Windows start icon. There I'll have both the old-style Start Menu and the HTC's so-called new Start Menu which is actually binding the Start button to the Program page. tongue.gif

the last version of HD_ManillaMods from mun_rus spoilt the new HTC Start Menu from being accessible from the Start button. Not sure it has been fixed or not. But if you switched back to Old Style start menu, then it doesn't matter anymore.

Added on March 20, 2009, 8:00 pmDutty 2.3 removed IE6 which supports Flash flawlessly, so that's too bad. I still can't get any Opera version to support Flash (or FlashLite to be exact). Anyone had a success story to have Opera (which version) to run Flash?

Hi Daneva,

Both Davideuck V-3 and Dutty 2.3 are using the same manila, yup! the start menu become the program menu in previous manila version, which i feel not that "convenience" to access the WinMo settings/Programs, on the other hand, as i mentioned in the earlier posting, the new manila will make more non-pda literal ppl feel easy and not "painful" for them...

btw, plan to flash to Davideuck V-3 to comparison with dutty's 2.3...  brows.gif

After more than 2 days, I found Davideuck V-3 very stable and fast. Dont know why I still wanna try Dutty but everytime I flashed his rom, the new manila got bug and whenever I flashed Davideuck rom, new manila bug solved. So I stick with Davideuck rom.

If u dont like new Start Menu, you can install Enlarge Menu cab, work beautifully.

Hi Bend3r,

I have not unhide the program tab. Can you show me how to unhide it (so that I can test it out for you)? Thanks.

BTW I found a way to disable the new notification. It now work almost like the old one, the different
is when u click at it, it show u only what u click on (give it a try if u hate the new notification).

In the registry, go to HKLM\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER and change the "Dll" value to "NotificationManager.dll.bak", then soft-reset.

Edit : I managed to unhide the program tab and yes, the left and right soft key of all others tab will not referesh and stay as "All program" and "Remove". i think it's a bug (just reported this in Davideuck forum, waiting for his reply).

Cheers....

Hi evilpuppy,

Give a try to davideuck V-3 HP and if u dont like the new Start Menu, u can install Enlarge Menu cab
and if u dont like the new notification, u can disable it.

After revert to old Start Menu and old notification (a little different though), I love the new manila (especially the calendar). The rom by davideuck is very stable and fast. I will keep this rom for a while (before new and better one come).

And one more, try mun_rus all background wallpaper, it is superb.

Decky,

it's all in XDA forum. Here's all about Blackstone ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453 , it also teaches you how to flash ROM.

Try google for S2U2 instead, or search in XDA forum, you'll get the newest version...

Decky,

You should know that flashing custom ROM - void warranty.
Here is how I did it:

1. get HardSPL or USPL and flash it to your HD. detail instruction is given in the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347

2. rename your downloaded ROM *.nbh to BLACIMG.nbh and copy to \Storage Card folder. After that, uncheck "allow USB connections" in your ActiveSync (Windows XP) so you still can charge ur phone but no ActiveSync connection.

3. turn off your phone, and start your phone to flash mode by holding Volume-Down button and press Power button. Follow instruction so on. This will flash your ROM.

4. usually all ROM requires you to hard-reset. Turn off your phone again (by removing battery etc) after success flashing and start your phone by holding both Vol-Up and Vol-dn buttons and press the Power button. Follow instruction so on. This will hard-reset your ROM.

If you're not comfortable in doing it, don't do it. Any wrong step could brick your HD. (it sounds so catastrophic but the probability of that happens is very low as it's hardly for you to make any wrong step for flashing ROM... unless you take out battery during ROM flashing... )

To add on to what maesus mentioned above, you better know what you are doing in order not to brick your HD.

If you have time, just go to below link to undertsand some of the term and what they meant;

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211

Note: The first time when I tried to HardSPL and installed new rom, I read and read and read many many time (and asked so many questions to all the sifu here like kylinlee, Baronic etc...) what is HardSPL and ROM. I'm so nervous and at the same time so thrill to install new rom. Once I get familiar how to install rom, now I get addicted and keep searching for new and good rom. rclxm9.gif thumbup.gif

I can't even upgrade my official ROM . The stock ROM is so buggy...

Should I really void my warranty and switch to a new ROM ? Is there any keyboard with haptic feedback for the Touch HD ? Any suggested freewares to install for me ? I got Gyrator and S2u...thats all ...

Decky, why you can't upgrade your official ROM? What's the error message? Are you doing the right way?

Stock ROM is not that buggy, if it is, do a Hard-Reset (besure you backup your data first) and start all over.

If you can't upgrade / flash your official ROM, then you shouldn't be trying to flash custom ROM. Voiding warranty is one thing though, you still can flash back to official ROM to 'keep' the warranty before sending back for RMA, repair or fixes if anything happened.

what version is your stock ROM? have you ever browsed to XDA forum?

Hi Daneva,

I read from the devideuck and Dutty's XDA forum, a lot of ppl experience the same soft-key doesn;t refresh problem on the new manila version. thanks for posting the question in xda, i plan to do so but i was busy the whole weekend sad.gif

About the mun_bgforall (backgroupd for all menu), i found that it clash with the new manila "Start" button, with bgforall running, the "start" menu seem like couldn't be display at all. for your case, i guess because u hv disable the new start menu that's y u r not experience the same problem.

to enable back the Program tab:
go to HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/manila://programs.page.hidden, set the key to "0". please make sure HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/Enablestartmenu is set to "1".

thanks! smile.gif

Hi Maesus and Daneva,

"For those having problem with new Rhodium Start Menu not working after "theme-ing", try copy the 5c9aa261_manila file from "Bg4all Analog Home" folder as this file has the new StartMenu code included. All other 5c9aa261_manila files included in other theme pack doesn't have the new StartMenu code and it will break your new StartMenu." -- copied from XDA forum

sorry i'm not familiar with this theme-ing thingy, i have some questions:

1. r u refering to the "mUn bg4allTabs_stockLike_v1.cab"?
2. how to obtain/find "Bg4all Analog Home"? which theme-ing software to install to get this?

your clarification will be very much appreciated! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Bend3r,

For me, I use new Manila (Davideuck V-3 HP), disable the new start menu by installing Enlarge Menu cab
and installed mun_res "mUn bg4allTabs_stockLike_v1.cab" for displaying wallpaper for all the tab.
Everything work fine as of now.

As for those using new Rhodium Start Menu, probably maesus can explain further (thanks maesus).
I have not try the new Rhodium Start menu (I really really hate it wub.gif )

Cheers...
