ready boost don't actually boost your performance very much... it only helps a little bit..cannot see the effect also..better you upgrade ram than you can see the difference..

it depends on what kind of thumbdrive are you using. what is the R/W speed of your USB Thumbdrive? Do not expect a big boost if your thumbdrive is a normal one.

Lol... that is the whole point of ReadyBoost - - not buying memory modules but 'trying' to get performance boost by using a flash drive.

Recommend ReadyBoost for those 1Gb and below memory only...

E.g, using a 2Gb ReadyBoost flash drive >

512Mb RAM - - definitely improves performance upto 50%
1Gb - - will see improvement in load times of apps
2Gb - - barely, but you 'might' notice...
4Gb - - forget it.

nowadays the money you spend on getting a thumbdrive is better spent on getting a memory module, dirt cheap wink.gif

what he mean was you use readyboost with 512 RAM you will get a 50% improve in performance...

if you got 4GB ram there is no need to use ready boost already .. the ram itself is more then enough

oh.. i got 1 GB RAM already , then might not have more effect..
i see kingston come out 2 pendrive that suit for ready boost, that is DataTraveler 400 and DataTraveler HyperX ...does this will increase the pc performance? I not dare to buy, if there is no changes..RAM i must discard 1 of the 512, if buy more RAM.

You know how ReadyBoost is used in the 'real world' ? Meaning, actual gamers / PC users ?

>>

System RAM : 512Mb / 1Gb
OS : Vista Basic / Premium no Aero
Games : Not too extensive 3D games / applications
ReadyBoost : 1Gb / 2Gb flash drive

When enabled, user will experience boost in performance in terms of load times. Or enable ReadyBoost and leave flash drive. When starting up Vista, user experiences improved load times.

>>

How is ReadyBoost being perceived

- User thinks get ReadyBoost flash drive, no need to buy more RAM
- Significant improvement in performance for systems above 1Gb RAM

If you've got 1GB or more of RAM, you won't feel sh*t. Try with 256MB and ReadyBoost for 4GB and you tell me what happen. doh.gif

Do you even feel any significant boost in performance because the significant difference in performing power is only when you've got 1GB or less of RAM? doh.gif So I doubt adding 4GB of ReadyBoost to 8GB of RAM will make a big difference.
