Dear Gamers,

Please review on ur Jasper unit... Cooler than before? Personally do u think it can solve the rrod issue or just a gimmick from microsoft?
I also wanted to get a Xbox, just not sure is this the right 1.... Please advise.

Ooo crap... Hopefully 3rrod wont kena my Xbox... as this is my 1st console after PS1. LOL....Planning to get PS3 in future when price drop...

Added on February 12, 2009, 4:29 pmAlso, i have a question here... My Pana 42" plasma can support 1080p signal... My question is will setting the xbox display to 1080p cause the GPU to become more HOT compare if i set it to 720p?

Meaning, setting higher resolution quality got do anything with the heat generated or not???
PLEASE ADVISE...

p/s: i am using HDMI

Lastly, about the ventilation of the device... i plan to add/DIY a fan cooler for it.
i wanna ask... if i place the device vertically... the hole at the bottom is sucking air out or sucking air in? How about the hole at the rear also? suck in or out??

okay, alrite alrite, so now i've already tried out both the original and well jack sparrow disc games. the wasn't much of a difference. the dvd drive was still spinning like mad. it was still very noisy mind you. owh gosh.

so now do i really have to get an external harddisk? i mean, come on really, if it can solve the noisy problem i did be glad.
or not i think i'll just send it back to the shop.
mind you, i bought it from nelson koay, not even a week ago.
really didn't expect this to happen.

Get a harddisk... i install all game i play in it... So damn quite... I can only hear my celling fan spinning noise only...

After 2 days of owning a Xbox, i realize that the root cause for caused 3rrod is so obvious.
-The device is build so small, compact, no enuff hole/area for air ventilation... I feel like wanna drill a hole at the side panel like our normal CPU casing and install a small fan to suck all hot air out or suck in cold air also can... lol...

Dude, it's the firmware that control the mechanical thus the noise. try unmod & see? also only the LiteOn drive is quiet..the rest are noisy. if you really annoyed by the sound buy a HDD for 120GB.....or change to PS3 or Wii for a silence experience. icon_idea.gif
The quote marked red is not entirely correct. although heat is the one causing problem, it's not due to the console or heastsink small but rather some issues regarding the chip packaging material used
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3...chips-defective

Refer the link above for a root cause of it. It was documented at link below:-

http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3472

Should you need more information for nVidia's problem, google link here : http://www.google.com/search?q=nVidia+G86+graphic+card

the problem is by folds more serious than the xbox incident in the means of PR and nVidia also forked out 1.1billions to fix the problem
and....

oh, the latest PS3 with 65nm chips in it which launched in MY also reported to have similar 3RRoD like defect that lead to "no display/cannot power up" symptoms on PS3. whistling.gif

Everytime came back from work my hands itch to play games. Played until 2~3am then go back to work early morning, no time to do this cooling mod.........plan to take a loong holiday to do it...
