Sound can be heard and play clearly using the laptop speakers. But when I plugged in my headphone the sound came out distorted and soft, help! It just happened last night, it use to be normal. I guess it has to be software base bcoz, an audio software came up, I forgot what was the name of the app something like 'sff audio.' I have deleted it and yet the sound is like this.. Headphone is fine as I've check with my other pcs and mp3 players. My opinion I think I have to install an audio app to decode back for my audio out. what do you think?

Make sure that the settings are correct. Once, I used an Apple headphone but I the computer automatically detected the headphones as EAX headphones and the sound that came out was distorted.

Im using a 3yrs old Asus M5000.
I think the sound device is Sound Max.
@kernah I doubt its harware, coz when it happened this "virus" maybe apps runs at my 'start' bar and when i open it, it was another sound app named "SFF" something like that.. which has alot of settings and tweaking, and when I did it actually sort of works but was too complex so I deleted thinking it should solve the problem. But ofcoz it didnt.

Please tell me which one is it.

Bro, I've got no more ideas. I'll check with my friends and see what they've gotta say regarding your highly odd problem. Maybe your sound jack has gone "fark"?

Is there any chance of using another sound apps? I think your audio jack has spoilt, how about sending it to a reputated ASUS Service Center for a check. Also, try to clean your headphone jack.
