Fakes usually don't come with all the proper information and accessories, so they often come in SMALLER boxes.

Check out the two boxes in the picture.

The pinkish one at the top is the real thing, while the smaller blue box is a fake.

There should be LOADS of stuff inside the box, including the power adapters and information booklets.

The picture shows all the things that come with the genuine article.

But if the power charger wasn't inside the box, but came in a seperate envelope, it's probably a fake.

Information

Check out the information booklet that came with the console.

If it looks like the leaflet on the left - it's a fake.

Real Nintendo consoles come with information booklets like the ones on the right.

Check the power charger VERY carefully.

The safety logo should be part of the plastic.

If it's just a sticker then it's a fake - and could be dangerous.

Turn the console over. Again the safety logo should be marked into the plastic, like the pink console on the right.

If it's just a sticker like the black console, then it's a fake.

The fake DS Lites have a paw print on the back and are a almost gold-coloured


The real DS Lites are pinker in colour and don't have a paw print

Fake consoles come with a plain black power adapter which can potentially cause serious injuries

Looking at the model number, I think the "fake" is a US version DS Lite, and since the adaptors that comes with it doen't work in UK it's replaced by potentially dangerous 3rd party adaptor.

Huh? No charger included? Mine do have the charger included in the box and it is exactly the same showed in the "Real power charger" picture. I thought all DS have a charger included inside the box, no?

Because mine was the olde olde DS with a Hong Kong Charger, the box was huge.
Persuaded the shopkeeper to give me a US charger too.
So the question, do these fake NDSLs play real NDS games? and go onto Wifi properly?

The 'real' one shown in the picture is an UK unit, but US unit should have charger included in the box if I'm not mistaken. I've see some unpacking process on the youtube video and most of them r US one if I guess it right. They(the vid uploader) unpack the box, take out a ds, extra stylus, some manual and a charger. The difference is that the US charger has flipping pin instead of fixed pin as shown in the picture.

likely to be reconditioned units if those are really going at 40 pounds each. also, isn't the 'supposedly fake one' posted the nintendog's special edition?
like i mentioned earlier, who in their right mind will make a bootleg NDSL that for all intents and purposes functions 100% like the real thing?
if it does not, why the need to go to such lengths to 'identify' a fake, bukan susah sangat wor, put in ds cart, doesn't bootup, hangs = fake lor, no need to check serial number blah blah blah.
