My cousin ask me to buy a Vista from Malaysia then send it over to her in UK where she was studying. Then I heard from the salesman that Vista which bought in Malaysia only can be activate within Asia country as it come with country locked.
Izzit real? Can any 1 confirm as I need to post to her as soon as possible.
She don't want to get Vista in UK as it like double the price of Vista in Malaysia.

Never heard of this problem before. People are selling in ebay and ship it all around the world. Dont worry, sometimes salesman dont know what they are talking too. Eg, i encounter a salesmans sales 533mhz ram can not pair with 667mhz. Pc wont boot. My friend besides is using the same combination too and his pc have been running for almost 1 year already.

I bought it from a German Reseller (OEM for Vista Ultimate and Home Premium). Its meant for the EU market but the key works fine and it even activated. Had a bit of a problem later , Windows said it wasn't genuine and stuff like that. No matter how I reactivated it , it still says the same (Activation passes though). Finally , I had to call up Microsoft and get it sorted out . It was hassle free and my Vista is genuine once again (Maybe the seller could be right , but I doubt so)

PS: I've got about 6 OSes in my house which are ALL OEM.

If there's a promotion, Microsoft usually strict the activation to be done within Malaysia only, for example, the Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 promotion. If there's no promotion for the package, you can activate it anywhere all over the world when you got Internet.
