holy cow!! i wanted to buy liondiv but working today...walau...shoot so fast!!
liondiv, lionind, ioicorp, knm...omg hard to say wheather this is temp or not... once ppl realize that if oil price cannot go down further, ppl with start to rush it and prices will shoot up fast for oil counters... because the bottom wld have been reached. the reason why most investors are holding back is because of the expectation of further price reduction. once everyone thinks price cannot go any further down...the only way then is up... same for cpo prices the worst news are those of large companies collapse, if any of these sort of news come out this year, then stocks will have diarrhoea again..... |

QUOTE(wirelessdude @ Jan 6 2009, 09:34 PM) Me - I still holding 900 lots KNM. Have been heavy on O&G. Also have this U.S. ETF called USO, which tracks oil futures, when oil was at $39 but sold off my Scomi today at $0.39 - too early cos it went as high as $0.415 I think. walao, almost half million in knm alone. if knm eventually double(which is not impossible), u'll have a million. |

I work in the retail line. It is strange... amid all the bad news in 2008, my sales actually went up 11% compared to 2007. 2007 was bad, only up 3% compared to 2006. Before that, growth per year was between 10-13%.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 9 2009, 10:55 AM) Because prior before around September 2007, business is still good and sales still brisk. u mean sept 2008?It is after around October, then business starts to go down hill. The first good 3Q can compensate the last poor Q, which is happening in most company sales as well. It is 4Q 2008, and 1Q of 2009 sales figure which is the most concern and is expected to be worst. last quarter 2008 sort of stagnanted. but dec sales still ok. one thing for sure, feb 2009 will suck after cny noticed one thing in changes of shareholdings in the star website, on the 7/1/09 so many share purchases(bullish), but on the 8/1/09 only 1! Suddenly everyone frozen... freaked out by the drop in oil and other scary news... correct me if i'm wrong |

Haha, the clash of the titans makes an interesting discussion about the psychology behind a person's desire to succeed.
Even if it is sam's intention to "show off" out of ego, i think it is nothing wrong. Different ppl have different motivation for achieving a goal. It looks like sam's motivation is to bring down TA principles. Seng became his target could be because last time seng's critisized him( I don't know) or hurt him(through words) in some ways. So it could be a motivation out of revenge and also a show off of mental superiority. Who knows? Watever it is, i'm sure a lot of ppl benefited from both parties for their willingness to share their views! Thanks to both. I think showing off wealth is pretty common and comes in many forms. Scanning bank book may not be a popular way to do it, but riding in an expensive car or wearing an expensive watch sure is! To me it is not much different. That's why there is such thing called "branded". On top of wat ppl think as "quality", it is really the price tag that they want to show off! Branded clothes, big house in up class location etc etc. The fact that the whole world knows about Buffett contribution of billions to Gate's foundation is also showing off. "I am so rich that i can afford to give so much away!" Otherwise we wont know about it. I believe there are many large charities that go unheard of. The ppl that show off the most are also the ones we enjoy seeing and reading the most. All those famous actors/actresses. Underneath the desire to show off is actually the need to gain respect. I think this need reside in every human, to be acknowledged and be respected by another human. I don't think Sam "forcefully" show off. He doesn't have a gun pointing at anyone to read his blog. Watever the 2 of them has against each other, i hope both gurus continue to blog as i have learned a lot from them. This post has been edited by mindstorm: Jan 11 2009, 07:50 PM |
