U mean corrupt as in u cannot extract the file out? why not try using other download managers and see if it works

Maybe something wrong with your WinRAR?

Download WinZip

It can open .zip . .rar , .cbr files.

can the file inside the .rar file be opened?

it could be that the file hasn't been properly 100% downloaded.

You should never use download managers/download accelerators to download compressed/archived files. Reason is because certain download managers/download accelerators break-up a certain while which may be compressed/archived and has to recompile the file thus causing problems with already compressed/archived files. Hope you understand.

Yes, it'll have to be slower because there's nothing accelerating the speed.
PS: Download speed depends on a lot of factors, which I won't list out.

and, TS, if you constantly getting corrupted files after downloads, next time, try download the same corrupted file(s), but save it to another partition, or better, another hard disk. If it's comes out fine, no corruption, then it may indicate that your system may have bad sectors. I happen to have the problem too before. Hope this help smile.gif

Bro, can't quite agree. I've downloaded ".RAR" files through download managers/accelerators such as DAP/FlashGet/IDM but some of them get corrupted when I try to extract them. When I disable my download managers/accelerators, and then I re-download them from the same source, it'll be able to extract properly. But yes, your theory is perfectly acceptable also. icon_rolleyes.gif

Your statement is true though, especially when you download driver files from (for example) DELL FTP server. You can download from the FTP using download manager, but make sure it's only using 1 connection (read:no split). Using multiple connection (which of course speeds thing up) will make downloaded files corrupted even though it's finished. Usually RAR files are downloaded from Rapidshare and/or Megaupload (and other filehosting service) and from my experiences, I never experience file corruption unless 1) The files uploaded itself is corrupted; or 2) There's bad sector or your HDD is dying.

Possible. Try downloading to another disk. RAR are very sensitive to corruption. Frequent CRC check fail can be caused by a failing disk but if the RAR is always fine without download accelerator, then it's not your HDD.

Agree with you. Most of the time, I only manage the download (Play, Pause, Stop), I rarely accelerate the speed. blush.gif

Nothing to do with corrupting download. Unless you encounter a DC while downloading.

I've had 70MB++ ".RAR" files become corrupt, doubt it's on applying to "0 byte".

Yes, you've to use Check Disk which is built-into Windows to try and fix bad sectors. Not necessarily all bad sectors can be rectified.

Try to download them with less threads.

I've had times when I download RAR files with too many threads, I got errors. If I cut down the threads on the download manager, everything okay.

Aiyo ! Sorry, me bad.

What I mean is, when one download the RAR files using IDM or DAP or Flashget or whatever download manager, they can set the DM to download the (sometimes hundreds of megabyte) files with like 16 threads.

The DM then will split that big file into 16 smaller portions, and will issue 16 download commands to the file server.

I have tried downloading huge files (I use wellget, a very old DM, but still useful) and set it with 128 threads. Result? Major corruption.

But if I set the thread counts to a lower number, like 8 or 4, then everything is okay. Perfect, no error.

Again, sorry !! blush.gif blush.gif blush.gif

Oh, okay. No problem bro. I was thinking that I was the dumb-person not understanding what "threads" were in WinRAR. sweat.gif
