Quote from TEK9:

Just weeks after the release of Call of Duty: World at War, Activision Blizzard takes yet another step in the Call of Duty series, officially announcing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which is to be released in the fall of 2009.

With this in mind, there is a strong possibility that the developers of the game will be Infinity Ward, who will most likely bring a version out for both the PC and console. This is a very smart move for Activision themselves, but it doesn't look too promising for the online Call of Duty community, who at the moment, are torn between the past and present, spanning actively in Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War.

This move could potentially kill the Call of Duty scene for good, if not, turn out to be a success for our online community if all parties decide to move onto this game. But as quoted by a user on the MTV Multiplayer web site, this could set the pace of a Call of Duty release each year as the user explains: "The naming convention of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 resulted in a chuckle from me. It is like Final Fantasy X-2. More importantly, who wants to bet that there will be a Call of Duty: World at War 2 now?".

Along with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, announcements were made for Guitar Hero 5, a new Tony Hawk game and a brand new racing title, all to be released later next year. No huge details were released for any of the games.

Activision wants to kill the competitive scene worldwide.

Like I posted in the other thread: Activision doesn't really care about anything except their profit margins.

Its probably autoaim rifles and smart bombs with precision rifles and laser guided missiles. Something they have yet to approach.

Next thing you know you'll have armored dolphins. Get it? Get it?

Heh? Don't you think it's weird that all these "sources" claim that Activision Blizzard themselves announced "Modern Warfare 2" when the latest press release from their website made no mention about it? blink.gif hmm.gif

Looks like its speculation after all
QUOTE
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Guitar Hero 5 Reports Are 'Speculative,' Says Activision

Yesterday, Activision Blizzard's revealed several of its major games for 2009, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Guitar Hero 5. Now, the studio has informed VideoGamer that reports of the games are "speculative as far as we're concerned."

The revelations were part of Activision Blizzard's presentation at a conference held by in-game advertising firm Massive Inc, during which Activision detailed its 2009 releases.

In addition to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Guitar Hero 5, the company also spoke of the next Tony Hawk game. "You're not going to be playing Tony Hawk with a controller in your hands," said an Activision executive, according to journalist N'Gai Croal.

The presentation also specified two new racing titles from Project Gotham Racing series developer Bizarre Creations: a James Bond racing game and another game billed as "Mario Kart meets Forza" by a company representative.

Along with N'Gai, MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo provided coverage, lending further credibility to the reports. Both writers are respected and considered credible. It is speculated that Activision did not expect journalists to be reporting live from the event, and presented confidential information not yet meant for public consumption.

Activision: CoD Modern Warfare 2 reports 'speculative'

And so is talk on Guitar Hero 5, new Tony Hawk and Bizarre racing games.

Overnight reports from the US that mega-publisher Activision Blizzard will release new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk titles next year are "speculative", the company has told VideoGamer.com.

Last night MTV Multiplayer reported that Activision Blizzard confirmed a string of new game titles at a Massive Inc. upfront - an event where publishers showcase their line-up to advertisers.

Games rolled out hoping to secure in-game advertising included Guitar Hero 5 and a new Tony Hawk complete with all-new controller-less gameplay (you won't be holding a standard controller in your hands) with a release set for October 2009 on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.

Activision also confirmed a new title in the Call of Duty franchise, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due for release in the autumn of 09.

MTV also reported that Bizarre Creations (PGR and Geometry Wars) is working on a racing-focussed James Bond game that isn't tied to a movie storyline. This was said to be lined-up for a September 2009 release. The studio was also reported to be working on an original racing title described as Mario Kart meets Forza.

Despite the apparent validity of the news (Newsweek's much respected blogger N'Gai Croal twittered from the event), a representative from Activison Blizzard told VideoGamer.com this afternoon that the reports were "speculative as far as we're concerned".

We'll have more on this story as soon as we get it.

Doesn't care as long as their single player is thrilling enough and the multiplayer offers good replayability
