The group says its oilfield services business has successfully secured the RM60.5 million projects in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia

SCOMI Group Bhd (7158), an oil and gas services provider, bagged RM60.5 million worth of jobs in Asia within the first three months of this year.

In a statement issued yesterday, the group said its oilfield services business has successfully secured the RM60.5 million projects in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, which will robustly contribute to the group's revenue in the first quarter of 2010.

These contracts are in addition to its existing oilfield services order book of RM1.2 billion as at December 2009.

In the area of production and environmental technology, subsidiary Scomi Sosma Sdn Bhd was awarded a RM21.3 million contract extension in the first quarter for the provision of integrated production chemicals supply and services for an established oil and gas company in Malaysia.

9 months net loss 149 millions. No wonder diving like crazy. (Announcement Date 26 Nov)

Where has all the money gone?
_______________________________________________________________________________________

1H net profit 17.191 million (decreased 43.38%) ?????? (Announcement Date 24 Aug)

Ada sesuatu yang tak kena ni. Macam mana boleh tiba-tiba rugi 149+17 millions pulak dalam masa hanya 3 bulan?

Actually no money was gone, yet. The loss is mainly provision and impairment loss under 'hold for sales' subsidiaries, kind of accounting treatment for asset means to be sold in near future. The asset should be able to fetch around 550m cash if sold.

Just placed my bid...

with asset sold to offset the loss still hv 400m cash back?

No, 550m if not mistaken, but think will be with Scomi Marine, if Scomi Marine is subsi (think most likely is), then the cash will be reflected on Scomi Grp's book as well.

Summarizing a bit after reading some of the Financial Statement, some of my comment above seems to have not correct.
From Scomi Marine book, the net asset is around RM629m, provision & impairment around rm257m, making the AFS asset measured at RM372m.
So the cash portion from selling the asset should be around RM372m, the rm550m mentioned earlier is estimation of cash they will have after completion of disposal, the figure should include current cash they have and the cash they expected to receive.
For Scomi Group, they will get a cut of the cash position (after completion in 2Q'11, if their estimation is correct), their book will also taken into impact of the asset written down, right now the asset was written down approx. rm150m+ in respond to the impairment & provision.
Think more paper should be on their way to be publish to investor, if someone who had that can share with us then that will be great...
