What is your preference?

in car - i run 3 apps minimum.
a) fm transmitter
b) my music player playing my fav mp3's in my car stereo
c) gmxt - coz i prefer to hear the sexy voices thru my car stereo instead of the small speakers.

then i have themes installed for cosmetic reasoning. and i have fon calls and sms coming in for thats the main purpose of a phone.
the breathing lights are on, coz i like it and its funky. and also auto rotate is on for a better view of gps nav.

pros:
-great sliding mechanism. feels very solid and slick. slide motion is quite addictive.
-great interface, can match the iphone. very good cues in input methods and buttons.
-ability to run widgets is really cool.
-gorgeous web browser.
-responsiveness is satisfactory. i doubt it will remain this way if you max out the 32gb though.
-ability to customize your content display on the standby screen is awesome. ability to add applications and widgets onto the standby screen is pretty cool.
-if i'm not wrong, sound quality on this device is better than my previous n82. or maybe its just because of my mylar bijou earphones lol.
-qwerty keyboard is gorgeous. feels good and solid. very nice matte finish.
-can charge via usb. meaning i dont need to carry a charger around, just the usb cable. (like ipods)

cons:
-inability to scroll. in the menus, you cant swipe the touchscreen to scroll, like the iphone. you have to use the scroll bar at the side which is quite a pain. same goes for contacts. the scroll bar is too small and it isn't precise.
-camera's image quality is mediocre. or maybe i'm just too used to slr quality.
-position of the call and end call buttons abit weird. even weirder that they're touch buttons. would have preferred normal buttons cos you can feel and be sure of the response once you press it.
-position of the menu button abit weird too, also because its the only non-touch button on the front. nevertheless i'm sure these are all things that take some getting-used-to. shouldnt be a major issue.
-i'm currently experiencing some BIG issue with my keyguard switch. a few times already it suddenly stopped working and i had to take out the battery and restart my phone. after that then ok already. not sure if it is a manufacturing defect or a software problem. damn pissing off. if it persists, i will check with nokia centre later.

how about the battery life ? Moderate usage like Sms , make a few calls which last around 5 to 10 mins each, capturing few images, and some mp3 session. I am pissed off by the N96 BL-5F, which doesn't last for one full day with moderate use.

are you sure firmware update can change hardware spec ??    you must be kidding...

N97  ARM11 CPU with clock speed at 434 MHz
5800 ARM11 CPU with clock speed at 369 MHz

what? No ! They only minimized the ram usage of other system applications to make it run smoother. There is NO SUCH THING as improving cpu speed via firmware updates

act they set the cpu running speed in the firmware. let say the arm11 cpu might act run at 600mhz. they might set in the first firmware at 300mhz and after sometime they manage to figure out how to enhance batteries life more while still allowing the cpu to run faster. so they will set in the firmware the cpu speed to maybe 400mhz..

it's possible and a common thing.

Even in the 5800, the CPU, some sort of Freescale something, supports up to 532Mhz, just the firmware/OS limits it to 369..

Btw, 600 cannot la, since max clock is 532...

strange thing hapen with the phone, first time i get this phone i klik at Games, it says Empty folder. so i think its normal, standard package is no game..

but when i off on the phone, there is a game inside that folder..Guitar Rock game.. like Guitar Heroes..

after install these application, guitar rock game is gone already, it change folder from Games to Apps. haha strange lah..
