OMG, i have just bricked my phone from a "SUCCESSFUL" firmware flashing. Didn't know why. The firmware isnt available to certain region yet, so i had to debrand my Singtel set into a generic N97. NSU detected the phone successfully, updated successfully but after switching it off and on again, i found it's stuck in a rebooting loop non stop. The white screen came on and off and i could not even boot into home screen
If anyone else is trying to debrand/rebrand and update it, i would say DONT DO IT. as of now, i'm not sure if this is caused by my action of debranding the phone or there's a problem with the firmware itself. gotta go tomorrow to nokia care centre, and i'll just tell them i bricked my phone even after a successful flash. i won't tellt hem anything more, hopefully i can get warranty for it |

QUOTE(Ash @ Jul 3 2009, 01:29 AM) For those who are eager to upgrade their firmware here is a guide to update provided that you have to change your product code first. I would suggest you to use the Singapore product code since their languages and etc are most similar to us compared to the others. It would appear that nobody have taken notice of what i have said few pages ago. I changed my product code, flashed and bricked it even though the NSU reported a successful update at the end. It has reportedly happen to many other people if you google it. Most of them happened because they tried to change the product code in order to update their firmware.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I wonder how snakevenom managed to update his firmware, I've checked our product code 0586199 in the nokia website and it shows the latest firmware is still v10 QUOTE(gzero @ Jul 1 2009, 11:46 PM) OMG, i have just bricked my phone from a "SUCCESSFUL" firmware flashing. QUOTE(Ash @ Jul 3 2009, 03:10 AM) Well, I was just sharing since a lot of them were complaining about the slow update Nokia is having. Probably, well my phone is branded under Singtel, got it along with a postpaid line registration, and debranding a phone and updating it has been proven to be working all this while, until now. That's why i was surprised. Since your phone isn't branded int he first place, maybe it's fine doing it. Maybe not for a branded phone though. Hmmm..Could it be due to you trying to debrand the phone and using the wrong product code? I believe none of the malaysian sets are branded and I tried to use the same product code similar to Malaysia only difference is the Country. Changed product code to 0586300, upgraded firmware and now mine is working fine. |

QUOTE(banisoon @ Jul 5 2009, 12:46 PM) hi everyone, N97 stupid phone so as No Kia. This phone sucks a)facebook app not Relax, no need to be so angry? What did you do to the phone?working b)widgets starreader, accu ...and all not working c) new firmware cannot be found for product code 0586199 cv b d)this phone hangs 4 times a day. e)quickoffice no lesen f) battery runs out fast g)keyboard spacebar really out of place like an alien from space h) many many many more complains i really feel frustrated about this phone....They call this a High end flagship phone.wtf i have been using nokia all the time E71,E90,N97 now... all this problems is my last straw... NOMORE NO KIA. will be switching to touchphone 3g from now. Nokia N97 for sale...... black,1month old.. I am so so so angry.... i have made the wrong choice..... I don't have a single problem you have mentioned above. 1. Widgets not working? You dont have internet connection issit? If you dont have, then don't blame the widgets being not working. All my widgets working perfectly since i bought it day 1. Yes that's including facebook, star reader, email widgets, accu weather etc. 2.If you have internet, chances is that you configured your phone wrongly. Which again, is not the phone's fault. 3.Your phone hang 4 times a day? My phone never hang a single time. So you get a bad batch? Go NCC get them to update firmware for you. If it still doesn't work, sell it. I'll buy it. 4.Battery run out fast? How fast? What did you do? Watch movie/listen to music whole day? My usual usage, the phone can last up to 2 days between each charge. If heavy use (browse internet, gps, music), then yes, 1 day finish. But it is acceptable considering how much function the phone have. 5.Space bar is not out of place like alien, at least not for me. I feel that it's in perfect place. It does feel's weird at first but you will get to used to it easily. Reason is that, because you are holding the phone with 2 hands while typing the keyboard so your thumb can easily reach the right corner for space bar. If you put it on the table all the time and type it like your computer keyboard, then yes, the spacebar is out of space like alien. However, if you hold it up with 2 hand (which you will do most of the time), the right corner button is much comfortable to type compared to middle button. 6. Finally quickoffice having no license is not the phone's fault. You want it, you have to buy it, or download it somewhere else. I dont see the problem. 7. If you are really still angry, and cannot appreciate the phone, PM me the price. i will consider buying it, seriously. since you said it has soooo many "problem" i don't expect the price to be high though This post has been edited by gzero: Jul 5 2009, 02:05 PM |

QUOTE(espree @ Jul 13 2009, 04:20 PM) Hi, I recently tried to save movie into my N97 using the OVI program provided. Don't think OVI CD (Ovi suite) provide any video conversion software. I don't know how you did it because i couldn't find it anywhere. What i would suggest you to do is, go download Nokia PC Suite instead from the nokia website or click here. There is a component called "Nokia Video Manager" inside, which convert all video files to MP4 and i find it very user friendly and make effective conversion. A medium quality conversion will typically reduce the video size to about 1/4 of the original size, while a high quality conversion will simply half the original video size. The output can be played using the built in Real Player. The 1st movie converted and transferred like a charm. The movie was perfect for viewing. Its initial size was 700MB and after conversion, 800MB++. Then I use the same method to transfer the 2nd movie and 3rd movie.. Didn't work. Both of the same format as the first, about the same size too but both after convert, become the size of about 30MB. they'd play like video only there's no image. just sound. Do you guys have the same problem? Please Help. Thanks. |
