From the video, there is no multi-touch. The swipes are not predicting the momentum of the swipe, and there is no evidence of multi-finger operation that constitudes part of being multi-touch. The UI is slooooooooowwweeerrrr than iPhone, and IMO clunky and unintuitive, they basically remapped the old S60 v3 UI into a touch-capable interface, which looks ugly. The whole snappiness of the UI, from the time a swipe or a tap is registered, to the time the app is launched, also turns me off. It may be rectified by the time it gets launched, but if it is as slow as that advertised video, no sale for me. Funny how the Launch video seen inside that Youtube video shows the UI being snappier and faster than what that person is doing on that Youtube clip! laugh.gif

The only specs I'm attracted to is its internal memory, 32GB expandable to 48GB. Part of the appeal of a touch interface is simulating how fluid and responsive it is executing those taps, swipes and touches. I dont see that in this phone, nor do I see a huge change from the calibre of apps available or which will be ported over to this phone. It will still look as old (and dull IMO) as the currently available S60 v3 Nokia phones.

try to hold your laptop up on your ears when you receive call, or carry it around in your pocket.

oh, and it's either your pocket will burn, or your laptop processor will burn.

and...try to make your laptop standby more than 10 hours. wink.gif

From what I read, the reason the UI is slooooooooowwweeerrrr than iPhone is because it's still a beta. the phone didn't even come out yet until late 2009 unsure.gif

why symbian and not winmo ? hmmmm......

and nokia still lags ler. they've added in so many canggih applications but still unable to run multiple simultaneously. all mobile phone manufacturers still need to address the processing power efficiency and of coz the main crap of all which is battery life.

it be really good one day to see nokia becoming the first ever to produce a well made sturdy phone with enough processing power to multitask simultaneously, have advanced features and a battery that runs on water which will last for 5 days before refill while being cost effective. i prayyyyy.....very hard i prayyyy....

If the 5800 Tube I fondled a few days back is any indication of the Touchscreen UI, I'm not holding so much hope for this one either. Did you notice that there are no page turns or real-time transitioning between aps, or pages of apps for that matter, in any of the videos? It is because, the UI is still shackled by the S60 OS, and with that effect, still look and function like an S60 device, albeit with a touchscreen interface slapped on top of it. Look when the video shows swiping , it did not simulate real-time swipe, it just immediately "jumps" to the next item in the list, unlike iPhone's actual smooth transitioning effect. The same with apps on S60.

I have the N96 with me, and I believe that the underlying OS will not be any different than what it has now, albeit with a touchscreen interface on top of it. So to call this an iPhone killer, I'd like it to be able to do what the iPhone does and more, and that is smoth multitouching. It is the experience that ushers in the feeling of holding something that feels like it is next-gen, not by topping up humongous internal memory or gaudy panel arranging. If Nokia stuck with S60, the hardware may be next-gen on paper, but the UI is still stuck in the last century, ugly icons and grid lining and all.
