is spending 3k on a phone a need nowadays? as a student-going-worker of me, it would cost me 1-2 months of paycheque..

i remember last time when colour phone just become popular, spending RM1k is already consider high price tag, and those who spend RM3k on communicator considered siao siao.

now? many kids now leh not RM3k don't want.

where got late, nokia has to wait till 5800 has garnered enough sales then only will release N97. Also this is the early attempt in touch-based interface, therefore the earlier the N97, the more buggy and unstable it will turn out to be

Yeah, I remember holding and playing with it at a store in China some time before it was actually available in MY. But of course, the build quality and UI is way behind the actual unit. But it was pretty cheap even before bargaining.

Just spend according to your needs and capability will do.

no doubt iphone dominates in terms of touchscreen prowess.... but i interviewed an iphone user last 2 weeks only, and the feedback i got wasn't good. According to him, iphone just a statement phone, get it show that u got $$$ to buy iphone, other than that nothing else, everything with it is normal, and camera totally suck. Browser and UI of iphone was enjoyable for him but there are a lot of tiny, weeny, unexplainable things with the phone that will make u hate it. He sums up that better spend the $$$ on something else.

there are some1 start selling 5800 in our forum, la, unsure reliable or not..

Those sellin are overseas set which is released earlier than in M'sia i think. The retail set in Malaysia i think only certain distributor has it, not every shop selling yet. Personal opinion is that, 5800 will not do very well la. I think only when N97 is released only Nokia will blow the world away.

Same as me. I always view 5800 as a prototype for Nokia to test their touchscreen technology to the mass & to gather people's reactions & feedback of it. Plus 5800 is supposed to be targetted at specific audience, where as N series is always for general audience.

the distinction between N series, E series and 5800 is getting blur, N97 will be the first ever to come with built in QWERTY in N series, which will raise a branding confusion with E series. And the decision to put 5800 under Xpressmusic line is really

i think the only confusion that arises is with the N97. 5800 is jus in line with all those 5-coded series since 5300 associated with music devices. N series on the other hand is normally associated with high performance camera and more appealing designs for younger generations, and the E-series is for to business personnel. But like I said, incorporating a qwerty keypad on the N97 does create a bit of confusion on the N-series phone. Just as I have wild-guessed earlier, maybe an E-series with qwerty keypad much similar to the N97 will be released but with a different model no. and maybe faster processor and higher ram memory. Could be an E-91.... hehe, speculation though.....

i just kinda dislike 4 digits series phone.. like very low end la.. lol
