QUOTE(sani_othman @ Dec 1 2008, 06:55 PM) hi. Have you tried doing this:my netbook: MSI WIND / MEDION E1210 using multiboot10 and nlite but i didnt delete recovery partition (F3) which is using norton ghost since yesterday i got error message hal.dll (i've installed more than 5x) is it because i didn't delete recovery partition? is it save to delete the partition or it is not recommended? i've already search in other forum: thank you for your answer. greatly appreciate. QUOTE From this point on it is just like any other windows XP installation delete all partitons and recreate the primary partition and format it using NTFS. Make sure you delete ALL partitions and recreate a single partition or you will get the hal.dll error message when trying to start the GUI part of the Windows install. ? Do note, if you reformat your HDD too many times, there may be bad sectors that are bound to happen. I'd recommend you to bring it to MSI and request them to do it for you since I'm assuming it's still new. |

QUOTE(sani_othman @ Dec 1 2008, 08:10 PM) technodude, thanx for ur help. I'm not sure whether it's safe or not to delete the "recovery partition" but last time when I reformatted a friends Dell laptop using a Windows XP Home SP2 32-Bit OEM disc (he bought another Windows disc because he couldn't find Dell's version of XP that came with the laptop), I chose delete recovery partition and and once there wasn't anymore partitions, I created a new partition (RAW format) and I formatted it to NTFS and it installed properly and updated to SP3 and he's still using it after 4 months. This is for Dell, not sure about MSI. But I can't seem to think of what'll happen if you delete it. but its not an option to send back to MEDION my questions are: is it because i didn't delete recovery partition? is it save to delete the partition or it is not recommended? thats all. PS: Do it @ your own risk! |

use diskpart to delete it and then install. you need to have a single partition , it doesnt work with dual partitions |
