its IDE.. what is a jumper?

btw, my friend said to me that (my brother's HDD, which uses different graphic card and other stuff has their own setting, for example his graphic card setting). Then he continued, when i used his HDD on my PC, his HDD couldnt load the settings thus cause a major problem. He added that i needed to perform a system restore on his HDD.

Is this true? But how could i system restore when the HDD couldnt even boot?

experience before case like this, but if im not mistaken ....the steps you do, step 5 and step 6 and below is totally unrelated...

if not mistaken ,your brother HDD installed with XP, and that will store new info when you plug in your com, and that will cause overwrite of hardware profile, and casing HDD boot-up failure. i don't know how's it happen...i jst happen like that to me last time..i just reformat it using other computer...

but i think ur hdd is really got problem since it will jam at certain percentage...just RMA it before it's too late.

ya i also have faced this kind of problem.. once i tried formatting my friend hdd using my desktop. it all went perfectly in my pc. after reinstalling the hdd into my friend pc the hdd wont even boot. so my solution was to format my friend hdd while it still in her pc and it went smoothly.

how long have u bought that hdd?? if still under warranty better send for RMA from the store u bought it.

did u tried to choose safe mode on ur brother pc??
