its 1point = RM1 ,If you are new to mac you can also join their workshops for free, they think of educating you also machines offers almost what an apple store offers,a community gathering place to exchange ideas.

The way i look at it, the rebate dont work like that
Ipods get 10% rebate, mac get 2% rebate, etc...

even when i bought my appletv, there was no rebate watsoever although it cost RM1449.

Cheers

That is ridiculous. I can't believe a premium reseller being allowed to con people that way (CC Surcharge). Even if it is at 2%, a macbook is (RM4799*0.02) RM96 which IMHO is bull.

I'm not promoting machines but they offer 2% rebate (membership rebate) without paying any cc surcharge (And also interest free monthly installments).

like what nimrod say, many resellers out there are also willing to sell below RRP (Up to 10-20% for ipod, not so sure about macbooks) to meet their quota. Its easy to assume that will usually happen towards the end of the year i guess.

There goes the main advantage of buying from Machines as compared to Mac City. So back to square one, 'Any advanatge buying from Mac City or Machines?'

Lets put all the 'free' accessories that we do not need aside and assuming their 'free' accessories are equivalent, Machines benefit me a lot more than mac city. This is why;

Machines is a Amex Platinum Partner (10x Points). Amex also have a clause that i can rebate 200 points for RM1. Do you math, that's a 5% rebate.

Secondly, Machines itself provide me with a membership card, which i can redeem in items from their shop. This is much better than their 'free' accessories because we actually get to choose what we need (2% rebate)

Lastly, I can make use of my Maybank Treatpoints. I can redeem 8,000 Points for RM50 voucher and i can use any amount i want (e.g. 800,000 Points for RM5,000 Voucher and get a Imac for RM500+ only!)
Treatpoints have no expiry date so maybe 10 years later i might think about this tongue.gif

Well, It works for me. 7% rebate and being able to use my treatpoints is a big advantage to me. Just to share this out.

Hi to all mac-users.
i found the superdrive is cool lah. im wondering if its compatible with windows? or say a non-macbook notebook or netbook windows based? if can be use then ill buy one. smile.gif anyone can help? thx alot

A superdrive draws 900mah instead of your regular 500mah from your USB.

Only Macbook Air's USB is designed to draw 900mah. So it is pretty much Macbook Air Exclusive. Not OS exclusive (I am pretty sure u can use the superdrive when u are on Windows on a macbook air)

suppose it's more relate to voltage
if i'm not mistaken, MBA usb is 11V
the superdrive need 8v at least to power

Hmm.. I rarely see anyone using volts as a reference metric unit but i suppose it can be done.
USB2.0 standard is rated at 5v plus minus 5%. Usually referred to 500mah. Any current requirement more than that will need two usbs (as seen with the bus powered 2.5" external hard drives)

I am not sure what voltage the mba usb is running. I only know the 900mah current draw. Anyways i am going off topic here. Sorry, Last post.
