Yes, Mac City has better Customer service support. The staff in Machines (well the ones in mid-valley) are quite clueless most of the time and are just wandering around.

It might vary from store to store, oh well.

Hm, perhaps the staff there have no training? It seems like it anyway. They don't seem like a very professional bunch.

BTW, Apple Store Malaysia just launched, I might just order direct since its cheaper with the educational discount, and free shipping.

used to buy all my mac products from mac city until one day ass itchy go and bought a mac desktop from machines, sunway. the staff were a bunch of dumbasses to say the least, had no idea what they're selling to begin with. then the mac broke down within 2 months from because of the 10.5.3 update but they said i corrupted the OS and wanted 200 bucks to fix it. and they asked me to bring it to the gardens branch to get it fixed because they really had no idea what was wrong with it. damn smart. want money but no idea what was wrong.

recently, the hdd died and sent it back to mac city, didn't want to deal with incompetent machines staff. they verified the hdd was dead within 5 minutes, gave me a 1 to 1 replacement within a week. no hassle, no charges, no questions asked. the staff are friendly, even gave me demo of a JBL iPod dock.

in other words, machines are useless and incompetent and mac city rocks.

Hm, my problem was with a battery (1st gen black notebooks). The apple website said it was replaceable even though it was out of warranty. I spelled out the website on the phone -- don't know if they had dyslexia or something but they said they couldn't browse to it(!!). Ended up calling the KLCC branch and they said their engineers knew about the problem and it could be replaced. Called back machines in mid-valley, told them what the KLCC branch said and then everything was okay and they could replace it.

I think it depends where you go -- the KLCC are pretty well trained perhaps because of the cliental in that area.

Mac City has good service. I remember when the Mac Book Air first launched they were like one of the first stores to have the laptop -- machines (mid-valley) only got theirs like weeks (again unacceptable!) later. At the store they answered all my questions, and showed me how to use it. Also was looking out for some expensive earphones and they actually put the effort out to look in the stock base and told me that their shipment for for them was actually coming out that evening.

Didn't the Mac City at 1Utama replace another mac store? Or was it just bought out? Because I remember they renovated.

If Mac City can match the educational pricing of the Apple Store, or throw in some goodies I would def. buy from them again.

Hey cool -- what price did you get your macbook for? If the stores throw in free gifts, ESPECIALLY a keyboard protector (I'm looking for one) then I'm in.

act i think it depends on where u go.i have no problem with machines.usually i always go to the garden branch, looking for some accessories n the ipod dock etc.
the staff is good in comm,i must say, n they are always available to help u.n also smile.

for the midvalley branch, usually they..i dont know, letting me juz wandering inside the shop, give me freedom to look for smthin or juz ignore me.but ill always alone in midvalley,i mean they didnt ask u "may i help u sir" or kind of thing.sometimes it also give me..u know, when no money but want to window shp,it gives me kinda freedom. blush.gif

staff in machines at mid vel n garden always tuka2 tempat.so u might see staff at garden, then she or he will be at mid vel later.thanks to joy, chinese girl who act help me during buying ipod touch last saturday.its a busy weekend, but she still has effort to demo the touch to me.

mac city always rock.i go there twice, during weekend and after the launching of new macbook.i remember jazz (although hes not remember me.. nod.gif ),for the first visit,he demo to me the jbl dock for ipod.lama jugak i thing, about 20 minutes, and give me some opinion also.second visit,he demo to me the new macbook, also the entry level one,waa..also give me comparison(although i knew it already),the weakness of new macbook brows.gif(although i knew it already too).he kinda give the customer the pro n cons of this product, that product, which is brilliant.thats what we want as customer.this fella is good. thumbup.gif

buy at apple online store if you're a student..got discount there..

or else, buy at machines..
got memberships and points..
you can cash in the points for any products at machines..

last time i remember cgcomputers offers rm500 voucher to shop for anything inside the shop if you buy macbook.
now no more i think..

my recommendation is, go and shope around all these shops, and buy from the most friendly one.

ACPP got discount cause its an auto enroll program, cut cost etc etc its a package. of course you cant expect people to give you discount for everything,at the end of the day its their profit thats diminishing right?

Haven't encountered any useless staffs at Machines@MV so far, which is still my selected branch. Just popped by Epicentre@Pavillion yesterday and there are also one or two new staffs so they tend to check back with their supervisors more often.

Here's what I have to share.. I was inquiring regarding DDR3 ram upgrades for the macbook. Epicentre would've charged me rm999 for 2x2gb modules, but are willing to accept trade-ins of my old ones, so it becomes rm799. I called Machines(where i got my macbook from) and asked about the price. 2x2gb modules would only cost rm799, however there are no tradeins for rams.

@xaw5126 you're from machines ey?
