Eh... so Which is to go for?? AP or Ori...
After reading so many pages.... All saying that warranty cannot cover this la that la ..... its more or less useless having warranty... My personal experiance with AP set is... well... My phone is near 2 years old.... for the 1st year it gave me no trouble at all... but after the 1st year... some minor problem like the Headphone Port loose and theres some retardation when calling out .. Anyway, in this case ori set is useless since by the time problem starts coming out, warranty already over... RM400-600 difference is ALOT to me... cause if you buy the AP set.. and with that extra 4-600 you can get yourself a bunch of accessories to enhance your phone .... making it look as if there is much added value compared to ori phone.... besides, AP company DOES GIVES warranty anyway .... its not like the word "AP warranty" means no warranty ... The thing im affraid when getting Ori is, there is not much value in it... besides, chances that you actualy uses the warranty within 1 year is unlikely.. so its more like you are paying the RM500 extra just for the sake of having the Authorised sticker and maybe the firmware being LOCAL... While for AP set, as i mention the feeling of getting ORI somehows makes you feel better... DONT KNOW WHY but ... it's just something that makes you feel that you are feeling more secure with ORI set.. eventhough it actualy does nothing... [Evidence shows in this thread as many of you people kept saying that AP got these and that problem ... but the fact is... AP sets ARE THE SAME as ORI sets ... AP set also comes from the same Factory as ORI you know == .. its not like ori is specialy made] This post has been edited by holypredator: Apr 24 2010, 02:11 PM |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion dude.. You might say AP good, but later when you encounter problem even within warranty, you will still curse AP phones.. I rather not waste time explain so much to you, but the point remains.. If you can AFFORD ORi, the go for it.. If YOU CANT, then go AP~ The same thing goes to phone.. You can afford expensive ones, you go buy.. Cant afford, then sad to say, too bad lah~ And finally, go google up some COMMON AP set problem before ranting here much~ Original phones are indeed slightly better than AP sets.. 1/10 ori buyer will come back for warranty within a year rather than 5/10 for AP sets~ I rather be happy taking the extra 400 and be safe.. But that's just me~ XD Oh, are you sure AP are frm the same factory? Who knows they are from some cheap factory in outskirt of china? |

This is what I know.
Original set warranty is pretty clear cut. But with AP, warranty can means all sorts of thing ranging from real warranty (useful) to just software warranty (useless). So best to ask them to spell it out what they mean by warranty. Then there is the issue of battery. One of my main worry is non-original battery that are made to look like original battery in AP set. And for E series phone, the original battery itself can cost RM200+/-. So if the different between AP and Original is around RM200+/-, I will opt for the Original just on the battery concern alone! Then there is the software update issue. Sure you can do firmware update yourself and that is like doing your own PC update of Window operating system. But updating is never as good as a complete clean installation and those using PC knows that. With Original, you can get Nokia to do clean installation without charge. With AP, you have to pay and it was reported to be RM80. In conclusion, if just RM200 difference between Ori and AP for a phone that cost RM1000, better get the Original. My 2 sen. |

QUOTE(anneysays @ Jan 5 2010, 11:47 AM) Can anyone give some feedbacks on the AP company, Telstra? Planning to get a new phone very soon but not sure which AP comp i should choose. So far,i've got a pretty good deal for one under Telstra warranty and another under Pacific. Never heard of pacific before so would like some opinions on this.as well as nefion. Which of these 3 you guys would recommend or think its most reliable in terms of customer service? thanks yeah Guess i'm a little too late to notice this post but I've got some bad experience with Telstra. I bought a Nokia N82 with 2 years warranty from Telstra. Phone worked fine until just about a year later the camera shutter slider just didnt function anymore. My guess is that there was a problem with the spring mechanism of the slider which activates the camera. The camera activates if I forcefully push down the slider all the way but jumps out of the camera application once I let go of the slider. So its most probably a problem with the slider mechanism which triggers the camera application. Went over to the Telstra service center in LYP. Didnt really get a warm welcome by the receptionist but not a big deal. The technician came out of the workspace and asked me about my phones problem. I explained to him that it was a prob with the camera slider. I demonstrated to him that if I pushed down the camera slider all the way it would work fine but I want to get this fixed. He told me to hand the phone over while he brought it back to the his workspace (quite a messy and untidy workspace So I asked him, the prob now is that my camera slider is not working so won't it be fine to just replace the slider mechanism? His reply: "No it won't. Your camera IC chip is damaged by the dust so we need to clear the dust and replace the IC chip". I'm an Electrical engineering student myself. Since my camera has been fine all this while, how could the IC be damaged in the 1st place? Dammit....... Ok fine. Probably there's a reason for this. I negotiated with the auntie at the counter and in the end she was willing to put all costs under the warranty. I came back in an hours time to collect my phone. The camera now works fine as before, BUT.............. there were scratches on the cover and highly visible pry marks around the side. I told him that these marks were never here before I sent the phone to you guys. He said that these the scratches were inevitable and there was nothing that he can do I complained to the auntie (she scolded the guy for doing such a slopy job A week later I went all the way to the service center again to get my housing changed. Handed my phone over to the same technician (probably the only one working on that day) as before and told me to come back in an hour. An hour later I came to collect my phone and it looks fine but the pry marks on the sides were still there HOWEVER, when I locked my phone I noticed that there was no backlight anymore! Usually when I locked my phone the screen would be on but there wont be backlight illumination. The screen was now pitch black. I thought it was the settings but it wasnt. i also noticed that the contrast was a bit off as there was a blue tinge in the colours. Walked back to the service center and complained to the guy. He said it was fine and the screen is normal for Nokia models. I whipped out my spare N95 and showed him that once locked the time can still be visible. He then admitted: "OH WHILE I WAS REPLACING UR HOUSING I ACCIDENTALLY BROKE YOUR LCD" Omg.... I could not take this nonsense anymore. Y did he not mention this to me before? I demanded that my screen be returned to its original state. he told me that he will need to flash my phone and reconfigure the LCD settings. So I had to go home, backup all my data and went back all the way once again to get my phone flashed. So yea my phone now seems fine, but with a few dead pixels which developed after a month of use, creaky keypad and pry marks on the side of the housing. Made 3 trips there and all left me frustrated. I apologize for such a long post but I do hope that this will help some future buyers make a more calculated decision before committing to a Telstra set. Cheers |
