I go for 'total waste of money' because:

1. you have totally no idea when or even if that voicemail will be listened to
2. listening to that same voice over and over again is damn annoying
3. it happens too often, lots of $$$ gone

What's wrong with a simple busy tone? yawn.gif

1st thing when i subcribe maxis postpaid and porting hotlink to celcom blue is removing the voicemail.

I thought you can disable the voicemail function in hotlink/maxis postpaid.

People hardly use voicemail. It's a waste of money.

sometime i leave a msg,

but usually i wont leave any msg becoz nothing important to say, or i dont think the recipient will check their voicemail inbox.

however, if i receive any notification about new voicemail in my inbox, then i'll check it.. but normally i hear nothing (silent) for 1 or 2secs lol.. wasting my time to check my voicemail inbox..

so far, my voicemail still active.. but on my 2nd number only. i disable voicemail features on my primary number, but turn on call fowarding to 2nd number. so if primary number unavailable, the call still fowarded to my 2nd number..

but if 2nd number also unavailable, then only it goes to voicemail..

you can foward the call to any network, the call fowarding service available for all network. for example, i can foward incoming call to maxis/digi/umobile/tm fixed line too. but you must request your service provider to activate it first (if its not enable by default).

you can choose to foward when not answered, or when not available (turned off or no coverage), or when busy (in used), or when rejected (you press the red button).

its free (no charge fee), but need to pay the fowarded call.

mean, when A call to B, and you foward it to C.. the A only pay call charge between A and B, and you have to pay the call charge between B and C..

I always turn off voicemail. With voicemail, my phone rings for 20 seconds only then the voicemail kicks in. Without voicemail, my phone rings for 60 seconds before the engaged tone. 60 seconds is a lot more time for me to answer my phone instead of 20.

For Maxis, key in ##109# and call.. this will off the voice mail
To activate back the voice mail *#109#

As for DIGI, I do not know as I have just switched to DIGI and would like to know how also.

Added on March 18, 2009, 3:58 pmFor DIGI.. key in *128# then call
A list of menu will drop down
select 5 - mobile services
then select Voice Mail
then if you wanto deactivate both Voicemail and Miss Call Alert (MCA), select DEACTIVATE VOICE SERVICES

Agree, I can't find anything useful about the voice mail.

Last time got people sent me a voice mail, of a woman and kids laughing together.

Creepy.

Actually voicemail is indeed a very good feature especially to those businessman whom they could not be contacted and need to leave urgent message. I just hate that the fact Msia telcos are blood sucker and start charging you 1st second after entering the voicemail and u are being charged to hear that nonsense for at least 15 seconds. In most countries, voicemail is charged after the beep is heard. I disabled my voicemail so that people wont get trapped by the telcos. And the voicemail notification sucks. It might not arrive or arrive after few hours. It defeat the whole purpose then. It is a good feature but the implementation made it sucky.

I Disable It Too Just Now(Celcom).Voicemail Is Just A Trap That Cost Us(People) Millions. For Business Better Use SMS. This Feature Should Be Disable When We Buy The Sim And Enable It If We Want Too. Some People Just Dont Know How To Call The Service Operator And Disable It.

They charge u for listening to your voice mail! I will just call back without listening to my voice mail, coz after listening to it I would call back anyway most of the time. Telcos are not risk takers and rather stick to familiar territory. If Telcos are risk takers we would all be 100 percent on the cloud for whatever service they offer

Is the condition still the same now? I just switched to U Mobile and thinking to disable its voicemail service. If the other party is still charged, then I would rather need not to disable the voicemail.

It's still the same. RM0.24 will be charged if you let the call ends on its own.
