It depends. If you want to downgrade an official firmware psp which has a firmware that's > 3.50, then you need a Pandora's Battery. Most custom firmwares can be downgraded to lower ones using the reflashing method.

hi there all pros,i just got my psp-2000 this morning.my psp firmwares is 4.01 m33-2.
sorry im new about psp i read the threads about firmware and homebrew but i still dont understand that much.im dumb btw  so is there any1 can explain this 2 things in a ez way for a dumb me?
and my quest is:
1,Should i upgrade my firmwares?
2,firmwares is to make psp game play more smoothly?
3,i saw some firmwares upgrade fees is RM15 some is RM35 some even RM45 is there any different on upgrading?
