Glad to hear that someone is comparing this two and need to make a choice out of it as well

I finally choose RS-7 after test out both side by side and RS-7 no doubt won over HT-SF2300 on the power and home theater experies, for an entry level try out

The speaker is indeed 'not agreeable' but although i always stress importance on the outlook as well as its quality, but guess we can't get two at one shot for most of the time

For RS-7 purchase, go to BM Hi-Fi shop near Sentosa there, they offer RM2100 without DVD Player also. I have bought DV610 at RM480 during A & L promo...

have fun...

same here, request the DVD player to be excluded.
You bought DV610 as well? Remember than from DV610 to the amp need a HDMI and from TV to amp need another HDMI cable as well.

Therefore when you buy DV610 in cash, A&L Sungai Wang will give a free HDMI cable at RM480 cash purchase price, and also when you buy the RS-7, there is a free HDMI cable as well included

Hi there, do you have the name of the shop?

What is the full package price? Come with Pioneer 818 avr and dv410 dvd player right? do they sell dv610?

Please enlightened. thanks.

I forgot the name of the shop, but if you are in BM, you won't miss it when you are in town
Near Tong Mooi

They don't sell DV610...i suggest you buy from A & L Sungai Wang, got free HDMI cable
RM480 cash, RM550 Credit Card

The package without the DVD Player DV410 is RM2100, means taken off RM499 from the original package price RM2599, whole malaysia one price
So the most valuable is buying DV610 plus this set

i also feel the same,
but however after comparing this two sound quality especially the home theater power, i decided RS-7
However the great new is, for the ugly speaker of the RS-7, the shop i bought (Eng Hi Fi in Bukit Mertajam)
they are able to come out with very impressive speaker box cover that can hide the 'ugly' of the speaker specially for buyer there

therefore no regret of choosing RS-7

after all, i think back,
to buy a home theater still the sound quality of the home theater system is what we are chasing for,
and also look having said is important, as long as the 'look' can be beautified, i'm ok...

hi have confirmed that the name of the shop is ENG HI-FI in BM
They have stocks of RS-7

yes comes with AVR 818, and DVD 610
By the way there is one AVR-917 at RM1500 only, don't know can ask for change or not lah..but AVR917 comes in 7.1 channel

I didn't get the DV410, i got one DV610 from amcorp mall RM480
Yes, they do sell DV610 but more expensive from A&L amcorp mall or A&L sungai wang..they can't get the RM480 price

Thanks for the info...

From the info of website i found that can connect extra sub to get more bass to the main sub's preout terminal

You can download the PDF catalog eng version from
http://www.pioneer-latin.com/downloads/cat...catalog_eng.pdf

so in order to get the low bass, can we add something on the pre out thus?

For DVD players you don't have to use analogue outs. You can use the digital coaxial or optical out, so no problem with the Pioneer home theater. The issue with BD is that the high bitrate HD audio which coaxial/optical can't carry.

Multichannel analogue outs mean it must have one RCA connector for each channel, 2 for front LR, 1 for center, 2 for surrounds LR and 1 for subwoofer. With this method the receiver doesn't even need to do the decoding, it will only work as an amplifier. But from the diagram you posted, the DV-610 doesn't seem to have multichannel outs, oly stereo. Not to worry, use the optical out instead.

Thanks
Someone recommend good interconnect and also good speaker cables are the next thing to go for if want to get the max out of this budget set up?
If it's true, any recommendation for both?

I was about to 'seal through' the speaker cable (for rear surround) through ceiling, is it necessary to change those as well?

Yah, for those with PS3, should go for HT-SF2300 instead since it matches and can be combined at ease...

RS3 is it good enough ?
*
When i first heard at Jaya Jusco, i am also impress about the sound output although it's only RM1999
If you have set your budget lower, and like to have home theater experience, you won't regret it, since it's Pioneer

just a question, if i change the HDMI player then the speaker still can support on it right ? ...sorry , Newbie here smile.gif

Added on December 7, 2008, 11:55 pmbut hat i can't find sony SF2300

Added on December 7, 2008, 11:56 pmRS7 VS RS3 , is it very much different ?
*
The player does make different
DV610 with upsize and HDMI capabilities
of course DV410 also with HDMI, so you can go for RS-7 if you want HDMI player

Well, if only to watch an action movie, i guess not much different

i was quoted Rm1800 by one of the sony style shop. Cash and carry. No hdmi??? Is that a good price?
*
That is a good price,
consider that Sony Style shop usually won't discount price....
the stated price is RM1999, so if you can get at cash and carry at RM1800, you should go for it

Pioneer RS7 VS Sony HT-DDW5000 which batter sound quality and bass
Sony HT-DDW5000 link http://www.sony.com.my/product/ht-ddw5000
*
I saw a thread in cari that someone tested both side by side

He said the bass of HT-DDW5000 is greater, but dissapointed on the high note and overall sound of Sony HT-DDW5500
