I've encountered sound problems in the past as well like occasional absence of sms notifications, muted unlock sound etc. I found that it is a software problem of sorts. Try reset the phone or do a restore. That should fix it.

any other ways other than restore..too lazy to do it and install the apps and games again..

Restore with backup I mean. No need a clean restore. It's not as bad smile.gif

When u press the volume button ... is there a 'headphone' word on top of the word 'Ringer'?

I know why don't have sound...sure you turn the button on ur left hand side of ur iphone that will switch into silent mode tongue.gif

definitely not that..dont u think i would have noticed it if the phone was in silent mode..besides some of the games still have sounds and it will still ring if theres an incoming call.. doh.gif

go to settings --> sound --> and try selecting any ringtone. Got sound?

ringtones got sound..

i'm using winterboard to apply themes..but all these while those themes got sound..all of a sudden last night no sounds..except for certain games and ringtones..

I just plugged in and out with my earphone then the problem get resolved.

It seems like ur speaker is working, maybe software or settings failure?

hey guys..im a newbie to iphone 3g.just got it few days ago.
wanna ask y isit that my speaker bottom left speaker is louder than my bottom right speaker?
both when the phone is ringing and play song.
why ha?any idea how 2 solve it?

hmmm... both my left and right speakers are of the same magnitude. perhaps your unit is faulty?
