I have been out of the OCing community for years and am wondering what good(reputable) HSF is good for a Core 2 Extreme QX9650 system? I am mainly gonna use it for gaming and web surfing, so no OC(or maybe a lil) needed...Please list any good HSF that is below RM150 for such usage. Please note that I do not have the standard HSF for the Core 2 Extreme..thanks!! thumbup.gif

let's see, good hsf, non OCer, RM150 budget..

mm it's like fitting a 90year old man fitting into a DB9

Even those copper core stock hsf will do. else, go for the max budget, Sunbeam CC, Xigmatek S1283 etc

thing is i don't have a stock cooler...and since i am buying a cooler, might as well get a not to bad cooler that is not that noisy as well...well the CCF looks tempting though... drool.gif
but i feel like it's overkill to use such a cooler for a non-OC system ahahahahaha

which is why i pointed to you the stock HSF.

anyway, I'm suing Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer (CCF) and it's great! I run it fanless on my OCed E7200 @ 3.61ghz with 1.36vcore. brows.gif

Monkey Island 1 and 2! biggrin.gif Never go the chance to finish them la, donno why. all other games I did, but just not that one. "how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"

yes. i have this "suicidal" tendency (which i usually give in) to test my heatsinks fanless. i love the silence.

somehow the Xigmatek 963 and 1283 didn't pass the fanless test. Sunbeam CCF passed, Scythe Ninja passed too but unfortunately I can't use that one on any of my new system due to bracket / mount issue.

cool..you didn't play MI3? MI3 is the best IMHO...yeah and that famous woodchuck tongue twister LOL...
It seems that the Sunbeam CCF is the best HSF to pull and dissipate heat away without a fan..i guess it's the best bang for the buck right now, considering the Xigmateks are more expensive...there was a forumer who recently sold his CCF for only RM120 sad.gif ..his even comes with the thermal paste..wasted!!

But now I wonder if the CCF is compatible with my P5K SE EPU mobo...Googled online and found out that this mobo is not compatible with the Thermalright Ultra 90 due to the high caps near the CPU socket. Any idea? Dropped an email to Sunbeamtech without reply as yet...
