Hello all Sugar Glider Friends!

I guess everyone here is already experimenting the HPW diet..
Just bare in mind that if you're planning to switch their diet, do it step-by-step..
Usually matured adults are okay if you change it suddenly but some won't..

So for those, here is my suggestion:

Mix their current diet with the new one.
(Mix 70% of Suggie Smoothie with 30% of HPW)
See if the dishes are clean the next day. (Means your gliders are eating)
If it is clean, decrease the amount of the Smoothie and increase HPW.
(60% of Smoothie and 40% of HPW)
Do it slowly. Increase the amount of HPW until it is 100%.

Hope this helps.

Please take note that HPW is by far the most suitable diet for your glider I would suggest for you other than BML. It is proven to make your glider healthier, fat and less smelly.

Make sure that to offer gliderade twice a week as part of their diet. And owh yeah, lotsa fresh fruits and veggies with mealies as treats..

Dealing with sugar gliders are almost the same with little kids..

I personally do not suggest any form of scolding or shouting kinda training..

The best way of training ever taught in the world is ' offering treats'..

Now how should I do it??

This is my suggestion:

As for the 'poo-ing' glider - Put the glider on you (or your bf) and give some treats (mealies or yogurt drops). If the glider starts to 'poo-ing' non-stop, take back the treat and put the glider on a desk or something and let it finish its business first. Then continue putting the glider on you and repeat. Please take note that once in a while poo-ing is okay.. This is only if the glider is doing it non-stop.

As for the biting glider - I've given so many ways to deal with bitting gliders through out this forum. When you say 'palm' up there, I wonder is it nibbling or bitting? There are too many concerns when dealing with bittings. Does your hand smells like fruits? Are you handling the glider too hard?

Sugar gliders are nocturnal animals. They have a blurry sight in bright places and very sharp eyes in the dark. Taking photos with flashes is the worst thing ever you could do to a glider. Even to a human eyes, it burns!

It's true with flash you could get better pictures but why risk it to your glider right?

We normally don't bring our gliders out to our normal gath/yamcha coz there will be smoke noise and yeah, the main point is for us to meet and have fun, not the gliders!

No worries, as long as u provide them with proper care & diet it should be good enough..

About the sneezing glider, I'll briefly explain here..

Gliders do sneeze (some sneeze a lot), this is a way of cleaning themselves..
They sneeze when grooming.. so sneezing is actually normal..

But if the nose is watery like what you're mentioning, maybe your glider has a cold..
I would strongly suggest you to bring your glider to the vet a.s.a.p..

Please take note that non of us here are vets or expert in glider health.

About the diet:

nothing is wrong with the way you're serving the HPW.. it's just maybe that your glider is just too new to it.. give him/her some time, she'll explore and will know the awesome great taste of HPW!

HPW is to replace the Uncle Taro's mix (smoothie).
Feed once a day, usually during night..

Mealworm/chicken is not mainly to supply calcium to gliders.. they provide protein..
So if you're asking whether the protein in HPW enough for them, I'll say 100% yes!

Gliderade is to be fed once or twice weekly.

Regarding your not-eating glider:

1. Maybe your glider is not hungry.
2. Are you giving the same food everytime? (what are you feding them?)
3. Try giving something sweet. Do not give sugar.
4. Check whether your glider is healthy or not.

Yeah, orange in colour.
I personally don't feed them cold stuffs.
I read in a blog saying you may feed cold stuffs but not frozen.
It's up to you..

You thaw the whole container everytime?
hurm, I don't think that's a good idea..

Scrape out the portion you wanna feed from the container..
or better, get an ice tray..

Your glider is new to you..
So relax.. it maybe takes time..

Keep the diet simple..
As for now, just offer these:

- fruits & veggies (other than apple such as papaya, mango, persimmon or carrot)
- HPW or smoothie.


Maybe she's a bit shocked with the new environment..
Relax.. give her some time..
Dont' over stress her..

Leave it for them to eat if they want..

no worries..

if you don't like your fingers being bitten, do not hand feed.. easy..
next time just put those worms in a bowl or something..

gliders do know how to search/hunt for food.. it's their nature..
if you think hand feeding is a way of bonding, you may stop now..
there's so many other ways to bond..
I see hand feeding gives you a problem where you always complaint here..
so i guess better for you to not hand feed them anymore..

once the glider and you have that trust, then only you might wanna try hand feeding again.

p/s - that's the case when you're changing smoothie to HPW where smoothie is the current diet and HPW is the new diet. Do apply the same technique to your case.
