been using soft lenses for ages...disposal monthly ones. works fine. cheap and wont break the bank if you were to say...wash it down the sink. am stuck with omega. omega-56. i've tried softlens but it tends to dry up quickly. so yea, brand is more of a personal preference; which answers comfort and the best lens.
benefits? well, mobility, looks, clarity, etc. imagine talking on the phone with a handsfree.now imagine looking without your specs. side effects?non for me. just the occasional redness if you were to wear your lenses for days on or their not properly cleaned/stored. remember to take your lenses out at the end of the day. |

normally u r not advisable to wear contact lens more than 6-7 hours i think. forget d. cos this will cause ur eyes to not have enough oxygen and thus ur eye power will increase
this is wat ppl told me la. |

I've worn "hard" gas permeable acrylic lenses, Boston IV RGP for 10 years, no problems, power stayed the same. Very clear vision, no blurring when blinking. They say this technology is even more advanced than the soft formulas.
Insert in morning, remove before bed, easy to handle, easy to clean, no discomfort all day! (I'm luckier than most.) Only drawback, if you lose one, it's costly. 111 |

i've been using contact lense daily for few years..
no prob so far though for long hours.. recommended lenses are monthly disposable lenses by Bausch&Lomb.. affordable.. n de best solution is Solo Care Aqua by Ciba Vision.. less prone to dry eyes after using dis solution.. however, hygiene is de most important thing.. n please disposed de lenses on time.. do not exceed de allowed usage.. |

I had runny nose for a while when using solution that claimed "extra moisturising". The preservatives were irritating. Changed to another and everything OK. Soft lens solutions are fine. I suspect saline is just as good if you are careful in keeping everything clean. You might also try after cleaning, soaking in plain water a few minutes before inserting.Actually, for a long time when imported solutions were very expensive, I also used just plain cooled boiled water for storage and it was fine. The problem above happened only when cheaper products appeared on the local market. My favorite aid is "Supraclens" overnight protein remover. Expensive, hard to get here but leaves RGP lenses very comfortable. I stretch it by using one drop for a whole week, since it comes in a TINY bottle. Maybe risky, but doing it for years. Believe it or not ....... Supraclens may cause a religious conflict. It is made from a pig organ enzyme. All the best, 111 |

QUOTE(alip5225 @ Nov 22 2008, 07:28 AM) i use Bonston Advance u should go back to ur optometrist and ask him/her to check ur corneal curvatures and reorder the suitable base curve and diameter RGP lens. ur existing lens does not suit ur cornea, thats why it tends to move alot and irritate ur eyes causing reflex tearing and runny nose.~Conditioning solution to soak and wash ~Cleaner to wash it everyday before sleep ~Normal saline to rinse i follow my optometrist instruction. but still it caused me runny nose especially when i want to see far object where the lens moves. do u experienced this? for RGP solution wise, u can try boston simplus, it can be used for all purposes namely wash, rinse, soak. if ur problem cant be solved, u r welcome to see me in tun hussein onn eye hospital next month, but pls email me at contactlense@hotmail.com to make appointment as this month and next month are very busy months. thanks |

QUOTE(shakiraa @ Nov 27 2008, 11:21 PM) O2 optix is an extended wear contact lens, FDA approved 6 days and nights wear without taking it off from eyes. however, its not strongly recommended as it increases the risk of infection and hypoxia of cornea thus lead to a lot of complication. in hospital o2 is usually used as a therapeutic lens, esp for those who cant insert and remove the lens themselves. then the lens will be removed for them on follow up. focus day & night contact lens is the best extended wear lens in market now, it can be worn for 30 days and nights without taking it out, but again not strongly recommended. |

Hi jialat,since you are an expert in this field,therefore i would like to ask you a few questions.
1) I am currently using HyperThin len,not sure if you had heard of it. It is less thick than softlens and other lens i had tried so far.I have been using it for years now but strangely,i can't find this brand in kl. Is it a reliable brand for me to continue to use? 2) Any brand of lens which permit me to wear for a day or two without removing it? If possible,quote me the price and where to get it. 3) I have been wearing spec since i was standard five and for those 4-eye out there,you know there will be temporary 2-side scars between our eyes. Plus nowadays wearing lens are costly,if you want the best lens and its solution. It seems that eye laser is the only way to get rid of all these problems,though it will incur a huge one-time expense. Besides that,what are the pros and cons of eye laser? Thanks a lot in advanced. |

O2 optix, air optix, purevision can be worn for 6 days and nights, but dont do that unless necessary. 1 or 2 days is still ok, coz even myself get drunk at times, never remove the lens for overnight. when i worked in lasik center last time, i saw a lot of dry eye problem after surgery, they need lifelong treatment for that, even though those medicine is not expensive but its troublesome. bear in mind, when we get older, the eyes get even drier. 1 to 2 % failure is common, they give lifetime warranty but ur cornea is not thick enough to have further enhancement, so u can blame them. besides, u sign a consent form. pros are glasses free, better cosmetically. when u get to 45, u will need reading gls anyway unless u go for presbyopia refractive surgery. another big amount of fee involved. |

well, personally i felt that wearing contact lenses will not increase the power faster than wearing glasses.
The more often you wear the lenses, the lesser strain on the eyes and the power would not go higher. The same for glasses, if you don't wear them as often, you would find the power going up everytime one goes for check up. And i felt more comfortable wearing hard lense ( can wears longer ). right now using color disposable lenses.... |

my optometrist said that wearing RGP can reduce our power up to -1,bcoz it can flatten our cornea.but must use for one year,than can see the result..

~ TYPE -> Freshlook's 2 Week Disposables
~ BENEFIT - > You don't need to bother cleaning them that much. Cuz in 2 weeks later, you can dispose them and they let more oxygen into your cornea(As what I heard). ~ SIDE EFFECT/ANY HEALTH ISSUES?? -> I far as I know, none... Maybe you just need to get used to them. ~ COMFORT?? -> Let say 8/10 ~ WHICH ONE IS THE BEST?? I don't really know, I've only tried these. So I would suggest these too. |
