Well positive is the HDD install game. Man, damn quite now my Xbox. All I can hear is the fan.
Negative, marketplace almost everything is down ( for now ). And NO Netflix for us.  |

love the hdd install option. especially since i'm getting disc read errors.
not to hot about the main friends screen, where it shows the parties and all. doesn't feel that intuitive. |

Question :
I've finished updating the NXE, updated my avatar etc. And as usual i watched all my downloaded tv series on my xbox... now when i tried to play latest episode of heroes... there's an error... prompt me to update my codec or something...i click the update but it's already downloaded (i can played divx/xvid video before the update). btw I streamed those files from my mac using connect360.. any ideas ? |

im using a Dell Ultrasharp 22"
but when i put the 16:10 reso on, it has the black bars at the top n bottom, does that mean it isnt supported? |

tried install farcry 2 for 4.gb.

haha, yup i tried to install it too but alas not supported.
i only silver member, but they force me to choose an avatar anyway. why? i like some games got wallpaper (ToV and TDU's ones are nice!) under games library section after i sign-in. marketplace is super duper slow though, i think i try to d/load demos next week when the servers will be less stressed. |

Just letting people know that if you had a gamertag that was frozen because you had a out of date or cancelled credit card, logging on with the NXE allows you to restore your account to a silver membership.

still haven't downloaded it. but i'm really bummed about not having the netflix service. yeah, i know there's really nothing anyone can do about it because it's regional and i'm sure there's a lot of other rules or regulations that i don't know of, but man... for the US gamers the netflix service is a big part of NXE! it's like we got the cake, but a huge portion of it is a lie.

Try spining clockwise a few times to make avatar dizzy quick left right left right to make angry face up down up down to elicit a smile who knows what else is there! |

See when all of you asleep my download is fast ....but got disconnected from my modem once but it was cached so thank god its okay... Anyway....to those who want to download...do it at 3am...it took me like 30 minutes... wow it's still pretty buggy. my xbox for the first time froze while i was just browsing through the dashboard. and there's a few crashes here and there as well. and the marketplace is down!
hopefully these are just the early effects of NXE. overall, i really do like it. very slick and stylish. avatars are nice too! mine look exactly like me, seriously, i was surprised. and the install function, so awesome. installed mirror's edge and fable 2. to all who are still playing these games install them! it does improve the loading times by a huge chunk. |

Looks like some NXE ready themes has been released.
*slurps* Red Alert 3 babes themes Another negative. Wallpapers are now stretched instead of centered. Looks like I gonna have to do some chopping. |

I updated by 11pm last night and was hoping for some GOW2, but looks like many others still had not updated. Nemind, at least gave me time to start playing SP GOW2.
Tried to make my avatar look like my LYN avatar, I think still need some tweaking. |

Having so much fun with the NXE that we chatted till 3.am!
 Hope they have more customization on the avatar (i.e army clothes or something) and more premium themes that changes even the party backgrounds. Does my Mii look like me? LOL! |

The NXE does a lot of background downloading which explains the lag we are experiencing due to Slowmyx. If you try the US marketplace even slower, coz more ads and animated ads to download in the background. Clearly its optimized for high bandwidth connections because it has loads of rich media

i'm under the impression that only consoles get banned, not gamertags.
so if his modded console does kena, he can still get an unmodded one to use. unless he intends to unmod the modded one, but i'm not too sure if that can be detected by ms. |

yup.. the fact that there's so much more to load means that we're back to seeing the dreaded bandwidth 'hang'.
meaning it looks like your box hung but it's actually because it's waiting to get data from the service, so wait a while first before hitting the off button. should be better once everyone downloads the new update and the servers aren't getting hammered |

One teensy question - does everything load quickly ? I mean, it uses internet heavily... I found that moving from an area to the next... it takes some time to load everything... worse still, flipping through the items / games and the game image yet to load.

i'm using a 22" monitor and i tried using 1680x1080 since my monitor can support it. and now i've screwed the res coz i press the auto alignment from my monitor. i can't revert the default resolution for 1680x1080. and another thing is, it seems that i can't get full screen for any resolution. always there's a black bars vertically or horizontally. never had this prob b4 using NXE. |

I think you mean 1680x1050 shofreze and yes if you use that res there will be black bars on top and bottoms because your display is now properly ratio, no more stretching.

If you want fullscreen (and stretch picture), pick other then 1680x1050 or get a 16:9 monitor.

Gears Of War 2  I got this baby downloaded during "The Last Day" Premiere for free. Didn't realize it works for NXE. Call Of Duty: World At War  Downloaded today for 250 ms points. I daresay majority of gamers are on widescreen display regardless of the type, be it widescreen LCD for computer, or widescreen LCD TV. Unless there is a workaround to get full screen for your case.

I just don't get why MS didn't just go the extra mile for the Avatar facial feature customization? It's so... unflexible! Should have just copied the Wii style, allow us to rotate eyebrow.. more distance.. etc. etc.

"HELP! I did something incredibly stupid. Ok, when I first got Netflix I didn't know to stream movies you add to instant queue. What I did is searched for something (Lethal Weapon) and added to DVD queue. I logged in today and I get a message saying it's been shipped and it'll be there by the 21st. The problem with that is I used McDonald's of North Dakota as an address when I signed up. I don't even live in America. Just managed to get my 20GB transfered to the 120Gb... I have to download the dashboard content again!!! Seems like part of it is in the system and part of it is not, and that particular part doesn't copy over during the transfer.

I installed Rock Band,and load times aren't really different.
The only difference is that it doesn't hang in the air like before,which happened frequently when hopping in and out of quickplay for changing players and stuff. Can anyone confirm any changes for Guitar Hero 3?I currently have Gears of War installed on my 20GB HDD filled with Halo maps,and Guitar Hero and Rock Band music |

yeah hitman i agree with you. i know mortal kombat is not only about the violence but it is like one of the few (maybe the only) to have fatalities so brutal... its the "oh-shittt-man!!!" factor that makes mortal kombat satisfying for me sometimes... i think they had to tone this one down coz well you can exactly see our heroes like superman ripping someone's beating heart out right? one of batman's fatalities is summoning his bats to bite the opponent, thats hardly a 'superhero brutality' (fatalities for the DCs)!

The old blade interface is now gone for good. So,I guess you have to stick with this 3RROD-making firmware. |

like djinn said, his refurbished set still running strong... you can check on the machine, depending on the manufacturing dates. i think falcon set starts to ship out towards the end of last year (i have forgotten the dates) |

Lol sorry I really don't understand.
All I know is that I got an XBox that was older than the Falcon chip. It's the Core pack,but the guys at GH gave me lots of goodies that made it pretty much the Premium package. It's been over a year now and I haven't got 3RROD.Yay! |

Hmmm I can't decide which is better, 1600x1050, or 1280x1024 stretch.
1600x1050 is obviously more pixels and proper aspect ratio, but I can't help feeling that the black bars on top & bottom are "wasted screen real estate." Whereas 1280x1024 stretch, the aspect ratio is slightly out but it's only really noticeable when I take photographs and do a side-by-side comparison. But no black bars so the picture is bigger! |

i've been using 22" monitor for a few years now and before NXE i used to watch movie with black bar on top and below but that didn't really bother me... what really annoy me is i keep on ranting bout how circle suppose to look like circle but what i saw is oval shape (is it oval? i mean more like telur shape
) and trust me it quite irritating...Why not get a saw and cut off those black part make ur monitor look wider and solve ur problem!... Well that doesn't quite right... i think there is no way u can fix that unless u happy playing with stretch picture, inaccurate details etc just go back to old resolution... or prepare to replace ur monitor with LCD tv or in case u like smaller and easier to fit on cramp place get a 20"... used with PS3 and it's look great imo... |

The only thing i really appreciate in NXE is the way it handles the save game files.
Previously, when you are connected to live, loading save game or saving game will take some extra time if your connection is congested. Sometimes it really lags until i have to unplug the network cable, so that live could be disconnected and thus eliminating the extra wait time... Now, although i'm online, the way it handles the save game is like offline. |

i guess it still loads NXE. previously, i downloaded the NXE patch at a friend's place(faster) by just brining my HDD...when i got home, it was just the plain ole blades. i had to bring my whole box over just to upgrade to NXE. i guess its tied to the console. not the HDD

you can also update it manually
nxe is broken into 2 parts 1 about 8mb , another is about 100+ mb manual allows u to update the 8mb and u can download it |

I have a moded Falcon.
Do you need to re-mod the console if you install the NXE? And has anyone experience any problems after installing the NXE? Like not being able to play games and the sort. |

my pc is CPU problem.
P4 cant play 1080P,but if 720P is ok smooth graphic card also ready ok 7900gs no $ to change to C2D....cus my mobo cant support C2D. |

How the hell are you getting MKV files,anyway? Aren't the standards supposed to be AVI,WMV and MP4? I only remember getting an MKV Simpsons Movie DVD Screener once,but that's it.It was of bad quality anyway... |

MKV is open source media container. It has some nifty tricks, but of course it's unofficial status means most people don't touch it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matroska
Loved by anime fan sub people though as a lot of anime is released usin MKV containers, primarily seemed to be because of the abiltiy to embed fonts into the files to get that special look for their subs. |

MS has posted the ablility to update the console without network / internet connection
using your method there is no problem however, modded consoles have a posibility 2 get banned and also , escape ban the NXE will not have impact on whether it gets banned. if MS knows u were modded, u will eventually get banned please ensure that ur update for NXE is both patches, there is a 7mb and a 120mb update |

I dunno how much its true.. when i bought the arcade set ( jasper ) the shop guy told me not to online and update since ms update have some trouble wit jasper set. and can cause RROD if im out of luck. anyhow i download update from website and update by usbdrive but sadly still no divx support yet.

Hi, just bought my Xbox360 n it's already updated with new dashboard. But when I try to change the avatar, it said need system update. Is the following file is what i need (the file size is 74.64MB)? Can i save it to USB thumbdrive n update from there ? The file will update the NXE together with avatar right ? N no problem if I already have the new NXE ?

my falcon RROD because it was time and my mistake (hot console straight away put horizontal into bag and carry around). jasper on the other hand, no problems at all. |

Erm... started getting crashes like a week or two after NXE but I truly believe it was because I didn't play my console after a long while. I don't think NXE is to blame for hardware failures.

i know that the software won't malfunction the hardware but if the above statement is true, it means nxe is causing the xbox to malfunction without actually having a hardware failure. even i'm not sure how true it is but let's just wait for a more weeks and see the response.

Can the NXE cause RROD in xbox 360 that use Jasper motherboard? I read that NXE caused in xbox 360 but not sure is it the old type of xbox or the new type of xbox(Jasper).

HW-12 .. to answer your question, the best way to do is to download and installed offline into your Xbox 360 using a thumb drive and it will not have 3RDD. I did that and it working fine ...

I've googled about the nxe audio problem and i'm still can't find the answer whether it hits everyone who downloads it or just specific xbox 360 with certain monitors or lcd tv? Also, where would i get the fix patch to download without connecting to xbox live? Can someone answer these questions.

But if you not using HDMI, you will not experience any audio problem. |

guys ... there are cases where banned console updated with new dashboard can't install their games to hard drive, n the installed games on the hard drive prior to update can't be play anymore ... so beware.

Summer update included the Avatar marketplace which you can buy new avatar equipment via microsoft points.
Others: Space required for installing the game into hdd decrease; add a solution and tips under "My Xbox" category, but must connect live to have it. |
