oops. my mistake. ok, black friday next week, not this week. lol.

wait next week and see what to order then. just in time for my Mamma Mia!, Mummy Raja Naga and TDK.

oh, btw, my Band of Brothers steel case dented. amazon shipped without bubble wrap and no box. just wrap cardboard around the steel box.

Amazon US Black Friday Blu-Ray Deals

Amazon US Black Friday Blu-Ray Concert Deals

Discounts not that deep to be honest. Maybe I was expecting too much.

Hi Aiman, but how to get US account without US credit card / billing address? Anyway around this? Thanks.. smile.gif
*
QUOTE(aiman04 @ Dec 2 2008, 03:05 PM)
Ooops, I forgot. Now it's almost impossible to register a US account.

When I registered, there was an option to "Add Credit Card Later", so I didn't have to put any credit card info. The residential address, I just googled for an address of a hotel in US.

My friend tried the same few weeks later, but ther credit card option was no longer there, he has to put a credit card info and billing address. We can't find any workaround at that time, so he gave up.

Sorry bro. Maybe someone else found out a way around? notworthy.gif
*
The workaround to open a us itune a/c is like this. buy an itunes gift card (minimum value is US$15). get a friend in the us or google online to get one. or go here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=769083&hl=

all u need is the code at the back of the card (get your friend or seller to email you the code) and go to the US itunes store and click "Redeem Code" and you will by-pass the credit card verification and set up an itunes US account. you'll still need a US address to complete the process, but any fictitious one will do fine so long as the postcode matches the city/state. and of course, you'll still have US$15 to spend on itunes.

o/t : the US itunes store has a lot more apps and stuff for the iphone compared to others.

hope that helps.

hi terranova... thanks so much. just to make sure i understand this correctly, the steps are :

1) Get a friend (from USA) to buy me an itunes gift card
2) Get friend to send me the code behind of gift card
3) Redeem this code (can bby pass c.c. verification) & set up a USA itunes a/c with appropriate U.S. add.

is this correct? Thanks..
*
yes correct correct correct. tried and tested by yours truly.

why not just get from that guy in the link i posted. he's reliable and price ok. saves u the hassle.

pspfan - mind sharing the name of that shop?
around which street? there's a lowyat like building there i remember
*
the lowyat-like building you're referring to is called Golden Computer Centre (or locals call it "wong kam") in Sham Shui Po. If you're travelling by MTR, exit at Sham Shui Po station and take exit D2 and u get right to the entrance of GCC.

yes... pls share shop name in HK, i'll be there this evening & don't mind shopping for BD stuff biggrin.gif
*
u r in HK now? permanently or visiting?

blu-ray here not cheap. i get mine from amazon. probably only good things to get are the chinese titles (not many choices on amazon), and sometimes english titles that are released here earlier than those on pre-order in amazon.

hey terranova, how is the price in samsuipo compared to those shops in mongkok and causeway bay?
*
for BD, not much difference. maybe if u get lucky, can save HK$10 or so price differential but i dunno where to get good deals. so far, from what i see, almost same same everywhere la. so not really bothered. just buy from amazon is the bestest. tongue.gif thumbup.gif

but if u say IT, computer, notebooks, netbooks, hardware, software, gaming stuff, etc. etc. then SSP is the place to go for variety and price.

Saw TDK and Mummy Emperor's Dragon in the stores here since last week. Didn't buy TDK cos expensive, retailing at ~US$38. Decided to order from amazon us.

Bought these instead.

AQ is DTS-HD MA 5.1 and PCM stereo. total 29 songs, all top hits.

PQ is good. total 3 hrs of 1080i video, including behind-the-scene documentary of the reunion + interviews etc. shot during their June 2008 reunion concert in Manchester.

From what i heard from my IT guys, yes they were, esp on the last day towards closing hours i.e. yesterday evening. all going at firesale prices.

by the end of the fair, total turnout was 450,000 visitors and generated sales of HK$230m.

Instead of rushing into the Panny, why not wait and consider Oppo's BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player which should be out late Jan 09 (tentative). Pricing around US$499-$599. Profile 2.0 BD deck with upscaling DVD (Anchor Bay), SACD and DVD-Audio support.
